| | Shopping tip - Basel
Hi all, in case anyone else didn't know (it seems among my friends I was the only one who didn't ) .... Ochsner shoes in Stucki (Basel) is moving premises.
They have their entire stock in the old shop on display in fairly random warehouse-like fashion at 50% off absolutely everything (including shoe cream and insoles and wellies) - and we're talking 50% off already reduced prices. I guess it continues until they are aus-ver-kaufed - at least I would expect they will still be on tomorrow (Saturday 15th).
I picked up 3 (yes three!) pairs of full length leather & suede boots for 120CHF (total!) very pleased with myself | The following 11 users would like to thank wattsli1 for this useful post: | adrianlondon, Castro, ecb, jrspet, kirley10, lost_inbroad, mojado, newinbasel, Nil, Peg A, Piafia |

Why are human females obsessed with shoes and handbags? Is it the smell of the leather that brings out their primeval urges?
Men are not worked up by leather at all, well most of us aren't. It looks nice on a naked body, but not on a frump: so why spend lots of money on a worthless accessory? (Worthless, because second hand leather has a low value, and compared to the new designer prices, the second hand value drops immediately).

Ittigen I'll let you into a secret, but keep it to yourself. Many women find it excrutiatingly difficult to buy clothes that fit and that they feel really good in. Perhaps because they do not have the superb figure they once had (moi included) and also because VERY few can look like the size 0 or minus 0 models in the magazines. Many of us just burst into tears everytime we come anywhere near changing rooms! Shoes, accessories, jewellery and handbags are much less related to body image and a much safer option, emotionally and otherwise.

I have big feet which means shoe shopping is not fun for me. Most shops don't stock my size - or at least not in the non-granny-range. Of course they always come out with "oh we can order it for you" but then you often have to buy the shoes - and who wants to do that? I want to try them first.
So yes, when I went into ochsner - where they had obviously got all the random old shoes and boots out of their stock cupboard - I was so happy to see not one pair of boots in my size - but many! To have a choice is something unheard of for me - and to have a choice AND have it dirt cheap... well.... I got a bit excited .
I will admit to a total handbag obsession though
I'm currently coveting a terracotta coloured leather bag in Esprit.... so gorgeous. Would be lovely with my grey winter coat....
