Students require online Expat questionnaire help!

Hi everybody!

We are a group of four students, studying at the zhaw in Winterthur. This semester we are writing a term paper about employees who come to Switzerland for work. We are focusing on how expats are integrated in Swiss-Companies and how enterprises supporting the integration of its former colleagues.

We hope you had a god start in Switzerland. As you are an expat you could provide us with important information for our work. We would appreciate it, if you would participate on our short survey (estimated time exposure: 10 min.). Your answers remain anonymous.

With the results of our survey we hope to find ways how Expats could be integrated in business and social life as best as possible.

So, if you wanna help, only fill in the form attached and send it back, get the email contact by pm, we really would appreciate!

Thanks a lot and best wishes,
Simon and friends

Unfortunately, that link needs a log-in. We don't have this log-in. I recommend using Survey Monkey if you need a free and fast solution.

Ok, then I am removing the email in OP for security reasons, you don't want to have it on some spambots list. Good luck with surveying.

PS. - did you tell your students about the documentary tsr1 did, about 2 weeks ago? It was exactly about this topic.

Re: Students require online Expat questionnaire help!

Bit of a misleading questionnaire. To be more useful you should avoid using terms like 'ex-pat', as it has certain connotations for some people. And you're making assumptions about the concepts of support and integration which will skew your results. Open questions like 'how are you trying to improve your integration?' are all very well, but don't allow either extreme, such as "I don't want to integrate" or "I'm already well integrated, TYVM" to be given.

Re: Students require online Expat questionnaire help!

Done, just waiting for confirmation of e-mail address to send to. I agree with the comments from Ace1.

Lastly, I noticed the onlien version too late; went there and started filling it in, mistakenly pressed the Enter key on the first page (without answering all questions) and the survey went onto the second page with no way of going back. Bad survery! (as in 'naughty survey').

Good luck with it anyway.

Re: Students require online Expat questionnaire help!

Filled it out.

But honestly: Are you guys sure you know what you are getting yourself into by asking so open questions? You will have a hard time with the qualitative analysis. I personally preferred to go the quantitative approach instead: Give people multiple choice questions or let them rate statements from one to ten. So you can easily claim "75% said Swiss people are boring" instead of "some said this, others that"...

I work in Switzerland "like a local employee", am not an expat. I think many members might be in this category. Is this questionnaire aimed at us? Or only to expats who came for a limited-time project to CH?

Simon, please take these comments to heart. Have you truly thought through your analysis plan?

Re: Students require online Expat questionnaire help!

I completed the survey. Since the questions were fairly open ended you'll have a lot of qualitative information to sort through.
