| | What happens to snail mail with the wrong name on it?
My girlfriend lives with me and had something posted but it wasn't addressed c/o me so didn't arrive. There was no return address on it. Can anyone help me find where it is now?
Thanks

Where is she registered as living?
If she is registered as living with you, then it should arrive, otherwise, it should arrive wherever she is registered.

Thanks | | | | | You should ask at your local post office counter where it might be.

I occasionally get sent stuff in my maiden name. We live in a house with a house number but the mail boxes are all together for easier mail delivery, with no numbers. The postman sticks a post-it on the mail boxes asking if a certain name lives there.

Tom | | | | | She's registered as living with me, but her name isn't on the postbox.
I'll go and ask at the post office.

Tom | | | | | I found out the hard way this isn't true. After marrying here, I was registered at the same address as my husband (after first registering with my maiden name, and then changing it after the official ceremony).
I was waiting for my FBI backround check, and they didn't use the self-addressed envelope for some reason, so the applied my maiden name to the packet. Packet was returned to sender.
When I inquired at the post office what happened to my mail (three weeks later, the FBI finally admitted it should have arrived by now) I was told things either get returned or thrown away after a certain amount of time. (Can't remember now how long)
I get different stories from my post office, depending on who is working. So I would always double check with your local post office.

Whether the person is registered as living there or not is hardly his problem.
If we are expecting other people's post, we put their name on our letter box, as does my neighbour when her daughter stays with her. Safer, quick and no-one can say they didn't know.

Tom | | | | | Your mailman must be nicer than ours then. |

Without a return address it will have to stay at the post office.
In the future, if your GF (now wife) hasn't changed her last name, I would suggest you at least use some sticky tape and paper to put her name on the letter box.
Best solution all round:
Update your letter box
