pete | | | | | Hi Pete,
To be honest, and in a nut shell "Expect to pay MUCH more than you have budgeted for" (in every respect except for beer in the supermarket.... go figure)
Zurich is a great place, and super safe.
The cost of living here is extremely high, but it's all "swings and roundabouts" and provided you live within your means, you can do quite well here.
A Hunting / Fishing licence shouldn't be too much of a problem, but I don't know where they would draw the line on 'Ausländers' with firearms..... but fortunately, the almighty SEARCH function at the top right should prevail.
Try to have a good look through the old threads for info first, and pay particular attention to the date the post was made to ensure the info is still current.
For everything else there is mastercard somebody who could probably help.
Best of luck with the move
(assuming you are coming with your wife that is.... hence the fishing licence)

Hey thank you so much, well a little back round is that we lived in Germany about 20 years ago and the company my. Wife works for is based in Zurich . She has made many trips to there over the last 4 yrs so the time has come for us to make the move. I really looked forward to the move as we loved living in Europe befor. Feel like I just needed to know more info.
If anyone else out there please come on in.
Thanks Pete

hunting... whats your definition of it? ak47, jeep and ripping some bullets into some dam.n deer? doesnt work here. afaik strict laws, several hunters organisations, association you can probably become a member of. google is your friend.
fishing is possible, but you might have guessed it...youll need a license. forum search function with fishing switzerland might work: http://www.englishforum.ch/search2.p...ng+switzerland |

????? Dude, you have been watching WAY too much TV.... Most Americans sit in a little tree stand all day with a bow and arrow waiting for a deer to come into their field. And AK47's are typically used to kill Americans, not for hunt game. | Quote: | | | | | hunting... whats your definition of it? ak47, jeep and ripping some bullets into some dam.n deer? doesnt work here. afaik strict laws, | | | | | | This user would like to thank for this useful post: | |

For hunting it would be much easier to board a plane and fly somewhere. For fishing there is not much action (hardly any and if, not bigger than 30cm), but many places possible with/without license.
My opinion, skip both ideas. Skiing, Hiking and MT Biking is good. Also bring a good (folding) kayak, sport clothing and equipment from the USA. This things are much cheaper there. You could send me a few (folding) kayaks too for this tip.

If you are used to hunting and fishing in north america, it will be a lot different here. Much more regulated and less wild. It can be done but you have to go through the proper channels.
Here is a few threads that have already discussed some of this, so it should get you started. http://www.englishforum.ch/sports-fi...p-fishing.html Hunting in Switzerland |

People hunt and fish all the time around here, dear, boar, ahre, birds.
In fact my wife and I thinking of taking up hunting and fishing.
A guy got a 10kg pike in the local pond a couple years ago.

It is a lot easier luring your prefered wildlife and then running over by car than shooting. Saves you the hassle getting the permit too. For Birds i was using the fishing rod, trowing the hook with a piece of bread on it up into the air. But the last duck i got it was rubbery like a car tire, my dog did not touch it either.
Since they prohibited bull bars and i took a dump in the lake Zürich i have given up wildlife gathering. I was only concerned about those floaties when we went boating. Probably it was sucked up the drinking water supply from Zürich city council.
I am having a lot more fun playing with my 56kg mermaid from brasil now.
Perhaps i start hunting again when it becomes legal shooting hunters with Gutling guns.
B....it OFF now!
But for sure you can skip hunting and fishing in CH (if you know whats that like in the US or Canada)
Another nice thing is Paragliding, or perhaps if you wanna go Paraskiing!?

Hi Pete,
Don't know anything about hunting, but it's not too hard to get a fishing license, if you're motivated. The more difficult part is finding the good places to go. People will advise you to swap your fishing rod for a bike, but don't despair, it is possible to fish here. But it's unlikely it'll be comparable to the US. Too many regulations spoil it a bit. | Quote: | | | | | My wife is relocating to zurich,

Brotha, I was talking to my wife about your situation and she recommended that your wife demands to get transferred to Michigan. The UP if possible.....
