Re: It's snowing!

I wish it would snow and that this horrible windy weather would go away! It's rainy, dark and depressing here in the Baden area and the wind is whistling around the building.
It's also the Weinhnachtsmarkt today, I hope things improve for the people on the stalls and the shoppers too. It would be such a shame if this cr***y weather spoiled it for everyone.
I'm now about to gird my loins and go for a run . I think.

Re: It's snowing!

I used to feel like that when we lived back in the UK and I drove 10 miles every day to work then back again in the evening. We lived near the moors in northern England and the snow stressed me out!! Hope you are ok MacG's daughter.

Re: It's snowing!

I have never understood the attraction of snow for some people. For me, snow, mountains and ski-ing are grossly over-rated. Never mind, chin-up, in just three and a half months, it will be Spring again!

I'm sure they were a friendly bunch...and disliked the snow as well.

On a more serious note, we still didn't get any snow here..I'm a little disappointed.

The snow is now gone
It's all brown and wet
And if I keep buying gifts
I'll soon be in debt.

Probably the uncertainty, when going to work in the morning, that one would be able to make it home in the evening.

Exactly!
There were times it took 2 or 3 hours to drive a 30 minute journey, the roads were treacherous, we lived in a hilly area and just getting onto the main roads was a nightmare.
Also part of my job involved visiting elderly people in their homes, again on hilly untreated roads.

I learned a long time ago that, when in doubt, say "no!" The advent of telework makes saying "no" ten times easier, too.

Anyone who thinks their physical presence is required in the office during major snow storms just need to have their heads examined. Survive and stay alive. Nobody wants to be found in 10,000 years looking like this:

Re: It's snowing!

Already made use of the dusting of snow we got and headed up to Lenzerheide for the weekend to try it out. While the conditions were far from perfect it was very enjoyable and surprisingly good to ski - at least in the morning. And for half-price daypasses you really couldn't complain!

Re: It's snowing!

I live at 1000 meters and I have yet to see a flake of snow. Yesterday was warm enough to jog in shorts and a short sleeve shirt. I moved here from Florida bracing for a cold winter, but if this is the Swiss idea of winter, it will be an easy transition. We had plenty of days in December in Florida where the temperature was like yesterday. Live in New England, then you will know what winter is like. This is nothing!!

Re: It's snowing!

I hope you are right, trust me. I was hoping for a cold, white Christmas. spent 14 years in a place where Christmas was warm and it was hard to get in the spirit. Hopefully we will at least get some cold weather. Hard to feel like it's Christmas time, when you have to have the windows open because it is so warm outside.
