2012 Swiss Eurovision Selection

OK Everyone... it's that time! Time to pick who will go to Baku to represent Switzerland in 2012!!!

Here are the finalists, including Lys Assia, the first-ever winner of Eurovision in 1956.

Be sure to tune in, tomorrow night, 10 December, at 20:00. http://www.eurovisionplattform.sf.tv/

Re: 2012 Swiss Eurovision Selection

The Eurovision Song Contest will no doubt be for Azerbaijan, what the Olympics will be for the UK in 2012; a financial travesty.

Quite why people still bother with this crud is beyond me. When people talk of wasting money and purchasing superfluous weapons instead of feeding the starving billions, I always have to think of the Eurovision Song Contest first.

"La, la, la, la, la, lah, laaaaah, oooh baby love, la , la ..." - repeat for 3 minutes and bow.

Re: 2012 Swiss Eurovision Selection

If the Swiss musicians who get airtime on the radio are anything to go by it is no wonder the Swiss do so badly every year. The country is totally devoid of musical talent.

I like Curdin Nicolay. But that's no Eurovision stuff, I admit.

Raphel Jager is my favorite of the finalists tonight... but I'm waiting to see how the stage performances go before I really dedicate my vote.

There's plenty of musical talent in CH, there are many people who play music in groups and give concerts, sing in choirs and enjoy participating in folk music. But of course that's not what you mean. But I have to say that I haven't seen much 'talent' in any musical transmission on TV in the past years - not in CH, D, or the UK or from anywhere, most of the participants seem to want to copy Mariah Carey or just manage to make a horrible noise in general.

Thank God there are other people around who can sing and play.

Eurovision is not about music. It's a kitchtastic camp fest. I personally have nothing against it.

Interesting is to see that leading Swiss music groups like the Sauterelles and the Pepe Lienhard Band never aspired to participate in that Eurovision Song Contest. Never did Martina Lory

Well, I'll admit that right now I'm in after-dinner lethargic mind state so "can not" look up what these criteria you mention are, will you give a short and simple answer as to why Jazz and Country singers don't meet contest criteria?

Pretty please, with sugar on top?
