So, we were informed of our salary increase, or rather "cost of living increase" for 2012.

1%

What did you get?
By the way I believe this is my 1000th post.

20% in March, 9% in September. Cost of living adjustment. But no, there is no inflation here in Argentina.

There are quite a few employment contracts out there that make the salary "confidential" in the sense that you can only divulge it on a "need to know" basis, usually designed to prevent employees from asking for an increase on the basis that "Wally earns more than I do".
I doubt that.

Salary data is not more sensitive than most other personal data of employees (there is even more sensitive data, like performance reviews or illnesses). A company should restrict access to this data but there is nothing that stops you from telling your co-workers about your salary.

I'll be seeing a salary decrease. Kanton Schwyz is tightening its belt even more.

Yes but you have to know this is illegal, despite being commonly written in contracts. Everyone is free to disclose its own salary, even if a contract says otherwise.
Ask any union or employment lawyer.

Illegal where, exactly? Prior posts of yours lead to the impression that you're unaware that laws in Switzerland are different from the UK, so I'm curious if you have a source for that.

Oh, and I forgot to say, I make the proverbial 120K.
So 1 percent means 100 CHF more a month.
Far less than our health insurance premium increase.
So, I should feel fortunate?

My employer will be increasing our hot gravel rations in the canteen. We'll also get office chairs to sit on.

Cheers,

I am getting a 10% discount voucher! ie, minus 10 per cent salary as of February. Aren't I lucky.

So if I wrote that I received a 7% cost of living increase this year, would that make you feel any better?

If I had to receive a pay cut this year, to help my company survive, would you feel superior?

I find this sort of post, distasteful, unnecessary and harmful. As I have already said, it breaches confidence, and suggests to me a continuing moral decline.

Merry Christmas Mr Scrooge!

WOW! "Moral decline" That's something of an overreaction in my opinion. He was just asking an open question for a vox pop i think

Re: Salary increase 2012

0% increase,
And cost of living increased even more, so as the contributions to the AVS thing, in vaud (0.6%)...
Everything increased a lot actually...

But by being even more careful with money I realize how everything's screwing you anyway (credit card charges, currency exchange rate on normal bank account, fees, interest rate VS inflation, taxes, politicians and new taxes, laws, fines, health insurance crap, etc....)...

Re: Salary increase 2012

Good lord, what an overreaction. I simply wanted to gauge if what I got was fair going into my end-of-year appraisal with my boss. The Swiss here in the office are pretty tight lipped about anything to do with money, so I thought an anonymous poll on the forum would serve a useful purpose, not just for me but others in the same situation. Merry Xmas to you too.

Merry Christmas Mr Scrooge!
I like contradicting posts.

And yours made me think a second and realize that yes it's not really intelligent to "just say" without thinking why...

I though it was some kind of "evaluation" on how other workers have been impacted by the crisis in Switzerland...

But about confidence I don't understand....? Self confidence or confidential agreement?
Because I doubt none of them should be impacted by the "raise".
