Re: Do the Swiss date foreigners?

Maybe in this case, a double negative makes a positive.

You think dating Swiss men/women is difficult at 20??? Try it at 40!!! Even aftershave does not help!
Perhaps you should switch from Old Spice to some better smelling stuff.

At 40 you should you should know which are the men and the women, and which you of these two you'd prefer to date...then pick the aftershave accordingly.

I've had no problem, and I'm a dark-skinned physicist, surely a double negative in these parts.

Maybe the problem is with you? You can get mirrors at IKEA for cheap.
I'm a dark-skinned Chemist. Never been on a date in these parts. But that's mostly because I'm very unattractive.

It's easier for men than for women. Logically, the older a man gets, the more women he can choose from. The older a woman gets, the less men she can choose from.

On the plus side, the older a woman gets, the more independent and wiser she becomes. The older a man gets, the more he struggles with the reality of who he is.

Re: Do the Swiss date foreigners?

I've dated a Swiss guy for many many years. His parents were initially hippies and he was a bit more open minded towards foreigners, but the mentality that there is no better nation that CH was there. He's a very smart guy with good looks and a good heart, but he expected me to become a "stepford" wife and revere him in a way. He did admit that Swiss girls were not of interst to him for a long term relatioship because they didn't provide that "home warmth", which in my culture was natural. Unfortunately, he did not understand that home warmth did not preclude a woman's right to pursue activities other than those expected of a stepford wife. Nor did he make an effort to learn about my culture, while I learned the language for him, etc.
As for the bar scene here, if someone approaches me, I am 99% sure he is not swiss. I would have said 100%, but this saturday a 22 year-old chatted me up. However, he travels abroad often (north america), so also probably more open-minded and comfortable chatting up english-speakers.
My main issue with dating a swiss person though was that often the group of friends is not immediately accepting. In extension of the post where it was mentioned that Swiss date at most 4 people, I have to agree. There are no huge cities in CH and many people grow up in Gemeinden that are much much smaller than Zurich. They establish long term friendships going back to their school days. It's difficult to break into such a group and I know that despite my close-to-a-decade relationship, I never felt accepted by my ex-partner's friends.

Re: Do the Swiss date foreigners?

Swiss women are as dull as dishwater. Stay away from them. No humuor or spontaneity whatsoever. They are really dull.
In fact... all Swiss are dull as hell. dating either sex must be a complete bore. They really are totally charmless people... I prefer to leave them to themselves.
If you can`t do better/more exciting than a swiss to date... give it up.

Not quite sure if you're serious or not.
If you are: You just insulted me, half of my family and my friends.
I heard that generalizations are made by dull people...

In my experiences, I've almost entirely experienced the same. Yes this might be a generalization, but I have met very few who do not fit this descriptions. Interestingly enough, the dullest ones I-ve met believes they're seriously interesting and funny. Perhaps the greatest issue with the general swiss population is a strick upbringing of self-delusion

Re: Do the Swiss date foreigners?

I've been for a week here in Zürich and I have to admit that the culture is strikingly different than most of latin american countries.

We are a lot more welcoming and friendly (warmer) with the foreigners and here it is very difficult to get to know people. I went out a day with a workmate to drink some beers hopping around bars in Langstrasse from Limmatplatz to Helvetiaplatz (ended up in Xenix I think it's called) which was born swiss and always lived in Zürich, but with italian parents and he told me that swiss in general stay to their groups and in general aren't open to know more people besides their usual circle of friends.

My boss (he's swiss too) also says that swiss in general are very private of themselves.

Even though I do like skinny, blonde girls that here are very common most of them seems unreachable

Well, I still do like Zürich in other aspects, here I don't mind having a car, for example, where in Chile or the US I could live without it

About " Even though I do like skinny, blonde girls that here are very common most of them seems unreachable "

I think you will find many of those in Langstrasse are very reachable; just check the street corners in the surrounding streets

I hope you didn't mean the girls "working" haha

I'll go to a meetup meeting on Bellevue tonight. I am not really looking to date someone anyway, I just want to hang out and have a nice time , some beers, conversation and why not dancing, even though clubs seems to be different to what we are used on my homeland.

Re: Do the Swiss date foreigners?

Observation: Swiss girls usually look bored when they're out with men. I used to get a kick out of it when my Swiss (now husband) and I would go out on dates and we looked like the only people in the room that were having fun. Perhaps the learned body language here doesn't give as clear signals as other cultures?
