EF Miracles

ok, so i don't know if anyone will remember a post about a year ago from a woman who had a friend from russia visiting switzerland who she couldn't spend time with because of job issues. i offered to show her around lausanne and she came last easter for a day and my son and i had a great day with her, showing her what we knew in lausanne and discovering some things here that we didn't know, the highlight being visiting the cathedral and being able to see a rare concert with the huge pipe organ which quieted even my 10 year old son . it was a great time and we all really enjoyed it.

we kept in contact and she came to visit this week for a short trip, taking time again to spend a day in lausanne with us and having her first fondue, among other things. after meeting her and now talking about visiting her in russia and lot's of other things, i got to thinking about how random connections can happen through a forum where strangers bs, complain, ask, answer and commiserate. if it wasn't for posting here and making these kind of connections, this is a friend we never would have met and a really wonderful time that easy could've never happened.

it made me think that there must be many stories that other efer's have of random and interesting meetings, friendships made, etc etc etc. i did a quick search (granted, searches are not my strong point) and thought it may be nice to see other people's stories of lives brought together through ef that would otherwise not have happened. mushy, yes, but i tend to be a sensitive girl .

*it may seem that meeting people who you immediately click with around here would be a sort of miracle, thus the title...*

To answer your question, I just had a conversation the other day about how much I value and appreciate the EF for the opportunities it has given to me and I was able to give others. I don't necessarily want to go into specifics as some are personal accounts/stories and I don't want to mention names etc. but there are ample and I look forward to many more.

Hey, man. That's a really good story. You should tell it often.

I don't have any specific stories to tell, either, but the Ef is an extremely important part of my life and I believe its importance will grow with time.

Re: EF Miracles

I met my husband at an EF event (midweek drinks at Talacker). We now have two children together. There are other EF couples who have married/had babies that I know of as well.

I've found all sorts of useful information and services on EF, found a lot of support when I needed it, and made some friends - real, and as of yet, virtual. It's made our life here much easier. So I cannot point to a specific thing because there are so many examples.

I've found tons of people that I've never even met and been able to pick a fight or argue with in some obnoxious and deliberate way.

And it's all down to the Swedes. Tack så mycket

Re: EF Miracles

I've had the pleasure to meet some fascinating people and share some great experiences and, on the flip side of the coin, had a few experiences I'd rather not have had. Just like life.

If you're feeling lonely or are up to a new adventure, definitely attend one of the social events listed. It can open up a new world for you or, at its worst, satisfy a curiousity you've had.
