Re: Hair cut Ladies?

I've just had mine done again for the usual price of CHF65 for cut, wash and blow dry. That was about what I expected it to be when we moved over nearly 14 years ago as I was paying £30-£35 in the UK at that time with an exchange rate of 2.33 CHF to the £.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I doubt any UK hair dresser is charging the same price as they did 14 years ago, yet my Swiss one is still the same price as when I started going there.

I just tried ecole de coiffure in Lausanne and they did as good of a job for 40 CHF as when I had to pay 80 CHF at a professional place. A student will cut your hair with the help of a supervisor. I was surprisingly happy with my haircut there!
I like that place too. I never get brushing anywhere, so I usually pay about 30-40 francs for a cut, would be 60-70 francs for brushing.

I pay eur 53 for cut and colour (all over colour, not highlights) in Waldshut.

To the poster who is waiting until returning to Canada, you clearly know that place better than me. I'm on a long business trip there at the moment, needed a haircut...got scalped cad 220 for the same service I get in Germany.

I've been there a few times too. The only downside is that it can take a bit long sometimes depending on the student, and the amount of help needed from the teacher.

They also very often need models for the exams and to practice for the exams. You can then get free haircuts and even dyes!

One year I helped an apprentice by getting a free blow dry and manicure every week so that she could practice!

Re: Hair cut Ladies?

I've been with the same hairdresser for more than 10 years and only get my hair cut when I'm going back home, about 3-4 times per year. Costs are 60-80€ (washing, cutting, 2 color semi-permanent, deep conditioner, blow dry - the whole program), don't even want to think about how much I would have to spend here.

Re: Hair cut Ladies?

Normally in NZ I go to Toni and Guy and would easily pay about 200chf to get my hair cut, coloured and blow dried.

Luckily I have found a nice little hairdresser not to far from me, who charges me only 60chf for the same. I have long hair as well so normally takes about 2 1/2 hours at the hairdressers, and she does an awesome job so I am pretty pleased

Hehehehe now that would be awesome. Or maybe if I had a dog I could ask for this to be done.

So guess is the solution!!

Re: Hair cut Ladies?

I avoided getting my hair cut in Switzerland for over year, getting it done in the US, the UK (usually while on trips for work) but finally caved recently and got a trim and a simple blow dry (as in literally just blowing my hair dry, no styling needed) in Geneva for CHF 52. I thought that wasn't too bad.

I got sick of my waves and layers and how I ended up with triangle hair four weeks after a cut. So I went Japanese and got it permanently straightened. Its brilliant - but that's a whole other thread. Means I just have to get it trimmed every now and then.

Salons seem to be two to every corner in Nyon; it's bizarre - anyone notice?

I used to only get my haircut once a year. Now I get it done every time I go back to England to visit my family - 26 quid a pop seems cheap now!

Re: Hair cut Ladies?

I pay CHF 50.- for a quick wash (I go with clean hair), cut and blow dry (in the sense of getting the hair dry, no fancy brush work).

Re: Hair cut Ladies?

I'm bitterly disappointed with the quality and prices of hairdressers here. I'm also someone who waits until my next trip out of Switzerland to have my hair done.

I did try two hairdressers here when I first arrived, both were disasters. I speak fluent German so it certainly had nothing to do with language barriers or misunderstandings. I felt they were just not listening or disinterested, could not provide advice, and were not naturally talented with hair - they may have had done the training but just didn't put their heart into their work.

The first one managed to ruin my beautiful colour (I have foil streaks) and turned me into a yellow straw head. This was at Cut & Color (a chain that is supposedly cheaper because you blowdry your own hair there and they use younger hairdressers who don't yet have years of hairdressing experience - ok lesson learnt). I returned a week later to show how yellow my hair had become and they blamed it on being in a different climate than I'm used to! I had to pay to have the yellowness taken out, and ended up with a mousy colour.

I paid more for the service at this Swiss place than with my hairdresser in Australia who is a talented man who also works on magazine and fashion model projects, and I got treatment and blow drying thrown in! And let me tell you he's not cheap either.

The second hairdresser was more personable but also just didn't 'get' my thick wavy hair.

Anyway, now I simply wait until I'm in Germany visiting relatives and use the local hairdresser there, who is just wonderful and charges half what I am charged here. So in between my hair looks like that of 'Struwwelpeter' but better that than the disasters I've experienced here and that at outrageous prices.

I can really recommend this Academie de coiffure (that's the name of the place in Lausanne, Rue st Jean if i remember right).

I think the price of a haircut is the same whatever the length. There's a difference for perms and dyes, as the quantity of product needed varies.

I live in Zurich and have found a nice hairdresser who comes to the house and cuts my hair for 50 CHF. I wash it myself just beforehand & dry it myself after.

Have tried lots of hairdressers in Zurich ranging from 100 CHF to 62 CHF so this in my opinion is a bargain.
I'd love to try that! Do you mind sharing his or her contact details? Thanks!!
