Hair cut Ladies?

So just wondering. We've already established here that the cost of a simple cup of coffee or a 'menu du jour' varies hugely over CH. A coffee here costs 2.90 but can cost as much as 6+ CH in Geneva or Zurich.

So how much do you pay for a hair cut and blow dry where you are ladies?

Our local hairdresser's prices have gone up hugely lately to 48CHF (a wet cut without blowdry is 38CHF).

Hairdressers Zurich & Erlenbach

I pay between 60 & 85 CHF (for a wash & blowdry only, CHF 125-145 with cut) in Zurich & surrounding area, depending on which of my chosen hairdressers I go to. The most reasonably priced (& the best) is a portuguese hairdresser - Paolo. Salon is right next to the tramstop, Feldeggstrasse. PM me if you want his details.

From my perspective the right hairdresser (& dentist) are worth every penny, even at Swiss prices.

Re: Hair cut Ladies?

80 for a cut. Blow dry is free. And she is cheap compared to others!

Unfortunately she left Geneva so my pocket is going to suffer now

Re: Hair cut Ladies?

Can I ask: is a wash and blowdry, really JUST a wash and blow-dry or is it code for something else, or a british english term I am not familiar with? Scalp massage? Super-styling?

What would make it worth 60-85CHF?

Here in sunny Basel for a ladies cut & blow dry I'd say anything between 75 and 100CHF is normal. At least I've never found anywhere cheaper.

It also depends if you have long or short hair (I have long, which is more expensive although I've never figured out why as surely someone who has short hair with loads of layers is going to take more effort to cut than me with my one-length-long hair!)

Re: Hair cut Ladies?

I pay between 70 and 100 chf here. I still can't get my head around the fact in the size of our town of 6,000 there are 14 hairdressers and 5 nail bars. If I can hang on I wait until I go back to the UK to have my hair cut and blow dried for £20 .

Well it does take at least 45 minutes to one hour. I know what rent per square foot & labour costs are in Zurich so I understand the pricing. It saves me the time too (which is absolutely precious) since when he does it, it does not restyled for days. Ever heard of a bad hair day ? Well things just run better when you don't have to worry about your barnett, every few hours. It is nice to hear there are cheaper options available too. For me, saving time and convenience rank highly & I live a moderate life in all other aspects

Think I'll just not bother cutting my mane, till I go back to Singapore once a year and get the full works for a lot less!

Re: Hair cut Ladies?

You are going to hate me: I pay 30F for my haircut. Ok, no wash, and my hair is very short. I visit her every 5 or 6 weeks, and in between she cuts my sideburns for free (double ). Plus, she is lovely.

Re: Hair cut Ladies?

I must admit the price puts me off too - in the UK I'd probably get it done every 6 to 8 weeks, here I go max about 4 times a year and in between I cut my own fringe

Re: Hair cut Ladies?

I pay 69chf in Neuchatel for a cut and blow dry and don't go as often as I used to which is probably why my hair is really messy most of the time I have short hair but I don't think it makes a difference at the one I use.

I even waited until we went on holiday to France last year to get it cut as the money saved was worth the couple of weeks of bad hair days. I mean that' what hats were invented for isn't it?

I used to pay 15€ at my local hairdresser in Belgium.

Don't worry, there is no judging here, I genuinely just don't understand what it is...I have long-hair and it take maximum of 10 minutes to blow-dry, but is it more than that? You mentioned it doesn't need re-styling - is it more of a styling than simply drying it?

As for the question: I cut my OH's hair, and my own bangs regularly. He cut my hair last time. :S Then I fixed it. I'm looking forward to a professional cut at some point, though will probably wait until I'm back in Canada.

Re: Hair cut Ladies?

I live in Zurich and have found a nice hairdresser who comes to the house and cuts my hair for 50 CHF. I wash it myself just beforehand & dry it myself after.

Have tried lots of hairdressers in Zurich ranging from 100 CHF to 62 CHF so this in my opinion is a bargain.

May I ask you where you go to get your haircut? So far I've been twice (to two different places) and I pay in the range of 80 to 100 only for the haircut. So your hairdresser seems to be cheaper than mine.

I have long hair and they all charged me around 120-140 CHF in Basel.

I never met a hairdresser who really understand the complexity of my wavy hair. I never like the brushing they do and I always finish at home washing my hair again to get rid of the tons of products they put in it.

Now, I finally found an hairdresser who knows how to cut wavy hair and I pay 35 euros all included.

Re: Hair cut Ladies?

I just tried ecole de coiffure in Lausanne and they did as good of a job for 40 CHF as when I had to pay 80 CHF at a professional place. A student will cut your hair with the help of a supervisor. I was surprisingly happy with my haircut there!
