Antiques Zurich

Our Hauswart/apartment manager doubles up as an antique buyer/seller/restorer and a couple of weekends ago we finally took him up on his offer to show us his current collection in the shop and storage room he has behind our building.

It turns out he has a huge and quite impressive collection of antiques from all over the world and from different periods. For example our favourite item was a 300 year old table from the Spanish Renaissance. There was also some great Chippendale furniture and some really interesting German pieces.

He's doesn't really advertise his stuff and I had to do a lot of searching just to find his website, which really doesn't do his treasure trove justice.

If you're into antiques, or just looking for something a bit different, it's definitely worth a look. Maybe give him a call first to make sure he'll be there when you go because he's not always in his shop. He speaks German and Spanish, but not English.

Thank you so much for posting this. We have 100+ year old doors in our house and pieces of the locks are missing and we can't close the doors. We've been looking for something like this because we didn't want to replace them with new hardware.

I'll have my husband give him a call!!

Re: Antiques Zurich

I met him by chance, when my husband was checking out a nearby shop, and he showed me around. I could have spent the whole day browsing.

So, I second that.
