On a Thursday morning before work? Dude.....I'm impressed

Hold on one cotton picking moment.....if it was truly effective, Mrs Mirfield wouldn't be on her PC at 0845 on a Thursday morning, she'd be recovering until 1100 with a lazy cigarette
Well normally I am in my office at 7am posting on EF so what does that tell you

Re: How do you boost your energy levels?

Haha, all these painless remedies. Sagitta, they clearly don't understand Slavs. Exercise and a cold shower pretty much jump-starts me for the day. If you can still be tired after that something's wrong with you. If you're running short on time, just go for the cold shower. I usually start with warm water to soap/shampoo up, and then rinse off with freezing water for close to a minute (though it feels like forever), with a last relief of warm water to finish up. Thermal shock, hurts so good!

But if we're talking about painless, a hot cup of tea usually does the trick.

An hour or so of passion with your other half should do the trick
I totally agree. An hour of passionate sex with your husband in the evening and you will sleep like a baby. And no sleeping pills before going to bed because it will only make you tired in the morning.

Pick an option:

2) You get up at 5am to have sex.

3) Who cares......im spiderman.

Preferably with...but I'm ambidextrous, so there is always a helping hand when without partner.

Think of sugar as 'empty energy'.

''You are what you eat''

The best thing is a high protein diet (egg whites, fish, turkey etc...) with complex carbs (rolled oats, brown rice, porridge etc...)

Added with plenty of fruit, veg and olive oil, you cant go wrong.

I supliment my diet with 2/3 100% Whey protein powder shakes a day.

Drinking plenty of water is also very essential as our bodies are mostly made of water.

With rugby 3 times a week and also 3 x 2 hour gym sessions, i always have energy.

cheers

Re: How do you boost your energy levels?

I discovered fresh orange juice. Yes, I know, I'm always the last to arrive, but there you go.

I can't get enough oranges, and my energy level seems higher.

Having said that, maybe it's the Spring

Half the respondents are saying sex, the other half are saying cold showers... there's something not right here.

Have you tried going to bed earlier - to sleep I mean?

Re: How do you boost your energy levels?

Methamphetamines always seem to do the trick for me.

Kidding, of course...

But what really DOES work for me are B-vitamins. This probably isn't the healthiest option because of the sugar content, but the really big Coop stores sell something called Vitamin Water (sold near the Gatorade). The yellow kind is full of B vitamins and just HALF of one of those puppies has me feeling like the Energizer Rabbit. I don't drink them often, but they are nice for when I need to get my entire house cleaned in 5 minutes.

Re: How do you boost your energy levels?

Get up a few minutes earlier still, and do some fast exercise - either a run, or a fast walk. That works well to give a feeling of alertness. Or, cycle to work ( fast) - anything that speeds up the heart.

Re: How do you boost your energy levels?

Some interesting suggestions here....

Sagitta, I'm just like you: totally NOT a morning person. I've always been a night owl.

But when it's an absolute MUST to be up really early, I force myself to go to bed earlier, but I need to be able to relax and unwind first, otherwise I don't sleep well and it's even more painful to get up. As long as I have a really good night's sleep, I can deal with it, and I will have the energy I need.

Take a hot bath the night before and put a few drops of lavender oil in the bath water. Lavender is relaxing (I also have lavender sachets tucked inside my pillowcases). Drink a cup of Sleepytime tea (from Celestial Seasonings - sold in COOP). I just got a couple of other kinds of tea to try that were recommended by a nutritionist: one is Yogi Bedtime tea and the other is Organic India Tulsi tea. They are supposed to be stress-relieving and promote restful sleep. I got them from iHerb.com in the US (which ships to Switzerland). I haven't tried them yet, so the jury is still out, but the nutritionist was confident that they would help.

Stay away from coffee in the evening and too much alcohol, as they are sleep disruptors. Also keep your sleeping room at a comfortable temperature (not too warm or too cool) and keep the shutters drawn to keep out the light. Wear soft earplugs if you're disturbed by noise.

When you wake up, do some stretches to get your blood circulating, some deep breathing (from the diaphragm) and don't skip breakfast. Have a high protein breakfast (e.g., eggs, ham, cottage cheese, nuts like almonds, walnuts and dried fruit or a protein shake). Also drink LOTS of water and stay away from refined carbs, sugar and too much coffee, which will adversely affect your blood sugar levels. Try green tea instead.

In general, be sure you're getting enough vitamins, especially Vitamin D3, Magnesium and B Complex. Those are important for your overall health and energy levels and mood. Get some amino acid protein powder and make a shake with almond milk and drink that.

HTHS

I have a very early start on Thursdays and it is extremely hard for me to get on with things on that day. It doesn’t get better in the spring because to say I am not a morning person would be an understatement. What do you do to boost your energy levels when all you want to do is to crawl back into bed? Any secret tips, herbal concoctions, homeopathic remedies ( ) you might want to share?
