unless you live in Bern: they are not getting the smug feeling this year. The Bern cantonal government decided they shouldn't do it. Reason: Mark Stucki of the Parliamentary Services said on request: The Administration Committee of the Federal Parliament adopted the directive that the Federal Parliament should not be involved in campaigns.
The environmental friendly agency WWF calls on the population, on Saturday evening symbolically for one hour, to turn off the electricity and in the interests of climate protection in the home, to save energy. The event was first held in Australia in 2007.

Did anyone check whether it really saves energy at the end? I can imagine that the dip caused by this Earth Hour initiative could cause some problems. Regarding keeping the energy level at the power stations.

I find the whole idea stupid as well, better to take the train than turn off a few lights. And if a public building is not lit up for one hour, is that REALLY going to change peoples attitudes?

one of the comments on youtube sums it up real well I think.:
its not about climate change, not at all -
THIS is about being less dependent on electricity, to reduce fossil fuels usage, to care a bit more about our planet. Earth Hour saves ONLY money, but makes us think.
