Kitchen appliances

Are there any problems using kitchen appliances brought from Germany in Switzerland (other than needing the smaller plug)? I am planning to bring my microwave, toaster, blender, kettle, handmixer. (I guess the same question would apply to my tv, dvd and iron!) I can't imagine there would be a problem but a friend who lives in Switzerland said something about the electricity being "a bit different".
Thanks for any info.

Re: Kitchen appliances

No problems at all with small appliances. The electricity is European standard 230 volt 50 herz.

There will be difficulties bringing a dishwasher, Switzerland has a standard width of 55cm in kitchens, the rest of Europe have a 60 cm standard width. Imported machine will probably be too wide to fit an existing Swiss kitchen.

Ovens, cooker, washing machines, dryers: many Swiss heavy appliances are two phase, English use one phase and German machines often require 3 phase electrical supplies.
