Antique watch repair Zurich

I'm posting on behalf of my son who is confident that one of my "EF friends who know everything" will be able to help with this query.
he has just been given an antique pocket watch which belonged to his great-grandfather and he is very keen to get it working properly.
I know there is a thread on watch repair already, but it doesn't seem to be what we need.

does anyone know if there is a watch repair shop that does antiques (not necessarily valuable). I wouldn't trust a "normal" shop like Christ, I am thinking rather of a small artisan shop as there seem to be many here in Zurich doing every kind of ancient trades (I find this fascinating and unique in europe!)

thanks a lot in advance!

There's a chap at Daniel Feist right by Kreuzstrasse tram stop (2 & 4) on Seefeldstrasse - one stop after the Opernhaus - whose the fourth generation running the family watch business. I've found him honest and reasonably priced regarding repairing / servicing old watches, without the hideous atmosphere encountered in the fancier boutique places.

Re: Antique watch repair Zurich

I had a couple of old pocket watchs I needed fixed up and got a quote in Zurich for CHF1,500. Took them to Germany by chance and had it all done for less than Euro400. But I dont know how convenient a trip to Germany is for you?

I beg to differ. 24chf is not cheap for Manor quality.

I changed my precious Rado battery at the authorised dealer (Kurz in Glattzentrum), professional watch master, for 20chf. It is with guarantee and without a single scratch.

Daniel Feist has no parts for repeater pocket watches. He cannot repair them. Would you know of any experts that can find and, if necessary, manufacture parts?
