Berg Apotheke at Stauffacher should have it.

Re: Tea Tree Oil in Zurich

I was going to also suggest body shop. You could also try a 'reformhaus' - health food store.

Re: Tea Tree Oil in Zurich

Tea tree oil , Teebaum-oel in German is the essential oil most likely to be found in a pharmacy in Switzerland. For a more extensive selection visit Farfalla Essentials, in Seefeld I think. Good luck.

Re: Tea Tree Oil in Zurich

The Body shop product is not anywhere near 'pure' tea tree oil. Without seeing the actual packet, I'd estimate 5-10% oil max (I used to work a lot with TTO in the lab).

However, it may well do what you want it to do...

The Farfalla product looks closer to the mark - could possibly be 'pure' TTO. Which is a fabulous solvent, highly toxic and please don't get it anywhere near your eyes!

What do you want to do with it ?

We worked with it for two years in the lab, and of a team of about 10, two people ended up with 'contact sensitivity' so it's not something I recommend you put on your skin daily or use widely around the household.... more than a few drops...

Re: Tea Tree Oil in Zurich

I would not recommend getting it 'sent over' - it's actually flammable and highly toxic, and not very stable...will evaporate very easily, and highly irritating if it gets spilt or the container breaks.

We used to get it delivered in metal bottles/drums with special plastic lids (the solvent will 'walk' through most plastics)...and those metal bottles had very strong seals on them but not recommended for airplanes...

Re: Tea Tree Oil in Zurich

Body Shop "Tea Tree Oil" ingredients:

Aqua (Water) (Solvent/Diluent), Alcohol Denat. (Solvent/Diluent), Polysorbate 60 (Surfactant), Melaleuca alternifolia (Tea Tree Oil) (Natural Additive), Limonene (Fragrance Ingredient), t-Butyl Alcohol (Denaturant), Denatonium Benzoate (Denaturant).

What are you planning to use the oil for? Don't confuse the different grades. If you only want to put it in your bath, the Body Shop stuff will be fine, but for some purposes you need proper essential oil, so make sure that's what you get if that's what you want.

Re: Tea Tree Oil in Zurich

swisspea, how would you check how good a Tea Tree Oil is? I'm guessing that even the statement "100% pure" does not completely reflect the oil quality?

In your opinion, is it safe to use a drop on a toothbrush, a couple of times a week?
