Places to sell stuff?

Hi putting this thread here as not actually selling anything just want to ask a few questions.
Does switzerland hold any craft fayres or anyone know of any places where i can sell home made goods?
I used to sell bits and bobs at my daughters school fetes in England and her school her doesnt do anything similar.
I make tote bags and aprons and other various bits, examples below.
If anyone has any ideas or knows of anywhere i can have a stall on the odd occassion please let me know

I don't know where you are but there are certainly craft fairs in Lausanne and in Vevey. IIRC, it's Thursdays in the summer in Lausanne.

We also have a little local store in my village that sells produce from the region and hand made goods. It's called the Farmer's Wives Association or something like that. Check your local commune house and ask them.

Otherwise the bigger towns/cities must have a farmers market or such. Some of them have stands for non-food items.

You can always try Etsy and/or Dawanda and the like.

Re: Places to sell stuff?

Markets can be a bit of a closed shop when it comes to getting a pitch, in some areas - the old boy network, who-you-know, etc. (but not always).

I see independent sellers' stands in the smaller commercial centres (i.e. 1 supermarket and a few other shops) in villages. Worth checking with local centre management companies.

Whichever option is found, you will have to pay for the privilege of being there, immaterial of whether you make sales or not - so I hope your products have a good margin.

So many sellers on etsy that difficult to compete.
Im in zurich so vevey a little too far.
May try seeing if the local WAC centre will let me put up a poster at least to see if people are even interested.
Know there has been a problem before getting nice childrens aprons from previous posts, and been making them a while now so be nice to sell a few!

I wouldn't expect that you come down to Vevey. I'm just saying that they are quite common. So I'm sure they have some in your region. You'll need to check the bigger towns around you. As Tom says it's not easy to get in though. The christmas market stall are filled almost the year before.

Etsy is not really a place where you complete, in that you can't wait for people to find you there. But it is a good platform to set yourself up. You'll have to market your shop yourself by word of mouth, having a blog etc. It's really just a store front. Getting people to your store is up to you.

you can also try the open markets that are organised by each commune, under certain schedule.
They say it's "city for you" days, anyone can sell anything on streets.
read more here: http://genevalunch.com/geneva-living...gin/#more-4659

good luck.
