Maybe its because 2 portugueses VS thousands portugueses in their car beeping makes a difference?

(hint: something about 100db for hours vs 70db for a few seconds)
OK I see your point, I had the same problem when I lived in the center of town and the reason why I moved to a quiet place I won't get into details of all the freaking Spaniards driving around until the wee hours after winning the world cup...and I am almost Dutch

Re: What are you reactions about the noisy portugues fans?

My inner liberal wants everyone to enjoy themselves, but I have been a little taken aback by the amount of 'celebrating' going on for really relatively minor games in this tournament.

I do find it disrespectful of the local populace who need to get up at stupid o'clock in the morning.

There, no mention of nationalism at all

Anyone know where I can buy vuvuzela in Zurich? Gay photos of Ronaldo nor sweet photos of girls calmed you people so maybe a blast of vuvuzela love in your ears might do the trick?

Bring the vu out of you.

I agree with you on that actually. Celebrating for every win is not on.

Has anyone heard of any action being taken by the po'lice?

in Lausanne they said they would tolerate noises for up to an hour after the match, but certainly not any dangerous behaviour when driving. And they start deploying cops and and cars before the end of the game, in order to assure the security of the places that get blocked by the fans and allow the normal road users to pass through another way.

Re: What are you reactions about the noisy portugues fans?

I'm not sure how much celebrating actually went on in Neuchatel last night as I don't live in the centre but the three roundabouts next to the football stadium where the matches are shown on giant screens each had loads on empty bottles on them this morning.
I'm guessing there was quite a party going on last night. I never realised we had so many portugese living here until the football started. The portugese flags far outnumber any of the other nationalities around here.
I haven't seen a single English flag around here.

Re: What are you reactions about the noisy portugues fans?

Ok, there are worse things than noise...True story.

Two World Cups ago, in 2006, I was living in Mexico City when Italy played and won the final against France. I was watching the game with a Californian, a Texan, and lots of Mexican people in a restaurant, and all were rooting for Italy, which was quite awesome.

Anyway, game over, we are walking around and, aside from the occasional car honking, no crazy noises, until at some point we run into a fellow countryman of mine who clearly had too many tequilas and micheladas to drink, and for the joy of Italy having won, had asked someone to paint a flag of Italy with spray paint on his...behind. How do I know? Well, he decided to let me and the whole Mexico City know by pulling down his pants and starting to jump in the middle of the street. There, the cars really started honking

Enjoy the soccer weekend, and I hope none of you is too much disturbed by the noise (of whatever nationality)!

They are everywhere in Neuchatel. It was the first thing I noticed while we were there. I think I spoke more Portuguese than French!

Re: What are you reactions about the noisy portugues fans?

See - here's the problem. It's not all the foreigners, it's the Swiss. If they didn't insist on getting up so bloody early to start work, and dig up roads etc, we could all enjoy the noise until 2am and sleep until 10am the next morning.

Even if I didn't have to go to work, my upstairs neighbours would throw open their shutters at 6:30am and then proceed to stamp around like elephants, so I'd wake up anyway. Weeeeeeeeee!!!

I think it is great to hear such noise for a happy reason !!!!!
Life is to short, and too often we are disturbed for depressing reasons, Let them beep, these tournaments don't come round so often. I would have beeped mine but we are out

To be fair, I don't really like babies.

Not an orgasm, is it? Maybe I should hop in the car and start beeping my horn (so to speak) every time I have one of those. They are worth celebrating, after all (certainly more so than football). Pretty sure more than 3.5 billion enjoy them, too!
