Re: My lil boy doesn't like Fish

Does it really matter?

I never liked fish as a child of any age. Now that I'm an adult I can now tolerate certain fish if I have to, but don't order it by choice. I just ate/eat other things, easy.

I love Annabel Karmel's fish pie recipe, http://www.annabelkarmel.com/recipes.../mini-fish-pie , and her fish fingers , http://www.annabelkarmel.com/recipes...e-fish-fingers (which you can use corn flakes instead of the rice krispies). My kid is picky in the extreme, but she eats both of these and even the curries she has. Her cookbook for the picky eater is always on the top of my pile.
hey thanks for the links... Maybe I will give it a rest for few months, and will try again with these fish dishes... thanks much!

I agree. Don't stress if he doesn't like something at this stage. Stop trying and wait a few months.

My son visibly shuddered and spat it out when I first tried him with broccoli but he eats it with gusto now.

When you are ready to try again, have a go with fish fingers (fish sticks as they are known here). Most kids will scarf them down not realising they are fish. Once he's got the taste of them, you can try other more "sophisticated" fish dishes.
Ok, I guess I should give it a rest for now... As long as he eat his veggies and meat...

I will try again in the next few months... Thank you for the suggestion. ^^

kids... the more sauce (mayo, ketchup etc.) they can dunk/drown them in, the better. I sometimes wonder if it's really about the fish fingers or more about "Yay, I can eat as much mayo/whatever as I please"

One way of getting the fishy-taste out is to soak the fish in milk for an hour or so before cooking it. This works with scallops, too.

I have a 14month-old son. He is very active and a good eater except fish.

I've tried to cook the fish in different ways: fried, baked, steamed, boiled and grilled... All rejected...

I've tried to change from one fish to another, from trout, to salmon, tuna and others... All rejected...

I've cooked with tomato, because he's just crazy with tomatoes. Still rejected.

So any moms out there who can give me suggestions? I would appreciate it.

Thanks! Have an awesome day to ya'll EF peepz! ^__^...
My son's a 23 yo professional chef since the age of 16, has to cook it, and still he won't touch sea foods.
As long as it's healthy, give him what he likes.

I still don't like fish, and can only eat canned tuna in oil and tuna carpaccio without getting the urge to throw up..... maybe try a lightly grilled tuna steak that has been marinated in something spicy?

BTW... how about nori (or some other kind of seaweed?) My little guy loves to eat the sheets of seaweed and my chlorella pills... also he eats my krill capsules (also fish and omega 3... if that's the reason you are trying to make him eat fish)

But but but... why? If he doesn't like it what's the point of going to such elaborate lengths to fool him?

Re: My lil boy doesn't like Fish

Take a tin of pilchards in sauce, put the contents in blender with 1 cup flour, 25cl skimmed milk, 1 egg, pinch of salt and some sugar. Put result in a medium oven for 45 minutes. Should do the trick.

I always hated fish but loved seafood, have you tried that? on the other hand I have no idea since what age are you supposed to be able to feed little kids sea food...also, I preferred white fish rather than dark ones...just saying...

Because it may be the fishy taste that he doesn't like!

Re: My lil boy doesn't like Fish

Mother earth has blessed your little one with not liking fish. That way he won't add to the problem of overfished seas...
For those of us that like fish, a life without it seems very difficult.

This reminds me of something my friend told me...

You know how the Swiss just love chocolate.... well my friend's husband didn't like it as a child, and his mum was actually worried about him. She believed he was missing important vitamins, so she used to try and disguise it to get him to eat it!! To me, that's crazy!

You're little boy will be absolutely fine without fish in his life, I'm certain of it.

OP,

why is it important to you that your son eats fish?

Is it because of vitamins, minerals or some other nutrient etc. which fish contains that you want him to have? If so, is there any other food he likes which also contains said nutrient?

Is it because he should eat or at least try everything that is on the table?

Is it because he should get to know a wide range of foods?

It's probably his star sign ..... I'm Pisces, and I love fish.

Why not try a nice lemon sole in a white wine, cream and caviare sauce.

I've never liked fish or seafood, and I've survived.
Angela the only fish I love is Neuchatel perch filets- yummy. With chips and tartar sauce, yeah.
