Are Plastic pot containers recyclable?

I have a mounting stack of plastic plant pots from the nursery and I was wondering if anyone knew if they were recyclable and, if so, where to take them.

Cheers,

Maria

Re: Are Plastic pot containers recyclable?

Depends very much on your Commune- so check with them. Our Commune stopped taking them and other 'lesser' plastics a year ago- but due to an uproar, they have relinquished and provide a container for those again.

Hats off to Wivedale in the UK, who made the decision to take back all plastic refuse emanating from their stores, pots and trays, etc. I am trying to encourage our local garden shop to do the same - if enough of us ask everytime we go, something might happen!

Bring the pots back to the retailer who sold you the plant.

Every garden center I've ever been to will take the pots back - most happily, as they can reuse them when planting the next round. Many will have a spot designated to drop off the pots, if you don't seen it just ask.
