Great story and, happily, quite typical of lost property in Switzerland. To be honest, though, I think the finder would have problems fencing a Stradivarius...

"The owner had lent the precious instrument to a musician friend who took it on a train on Friday but forgot it when he got off at Bern"

I would have like to see the reaction of the guy he let borrow it...

"where is my stradavarius?"

ummm, I left it somewhere... can't remember exactly....

Good morning

The same thing happened to me a few years back, I forgot my brand new laptop on the train as I was headed for ZH airport to catch a flight.
Not only was it found but they delivered it home

I've also had a blackberry returned to me by the Fundburo Zurich, very impressed with that.

On the topic of the Stradiwhovious though, we have had quite the conversation about it's stolen worth.

The only option would be to sell it to a corrupt private collector. From what I can assume, there is a good collection of uber-rich such collections with nothing else to do in life but collect they're 'prized' treasures. Wonder how hard it would be to get a hold of such a plunderer

This is exactly what I love here. Bag of gifts left on the tram stop was still there two hours ago. Untouched. I wish some guys in my home land would learn

Thanks for a good news. Those are so rare today

Re: You've been Switzerlanded (but this time in a positive way)

Left my VERY expensive binoculars at a Café in Murten/Morat today. Went back to the Café and was checking around the table where were had been sitting- and a man who was sitting there made the 'binoculars' gesture- and pointed to the inside till- and there they were.

Mind you, my dad once left binocs in a bus in Scotland, and as I had stuck one of our address stickers inside the case, the person who found them phoned - turned out he was at Uni on London with my OH. They were back home before my parents! Good people everywhere

Thanks for the uplifting thread.

Spirits lifted, not items.
