Re: A decent quality mattress in Basel

I'm actually on the hunt for bed and mattress myself... "Quality" ones, I'm having a rough time with here actually. What features would make a mattress "quality" to you?

I looked at prices and descriptions for mattresses from Pfister, Fly (furniture for Manor it seems), Lipo (seems to be cheapy place) and Ikea. I didn't see much difference in the descriptions for the mattresses from the other three, Ikea stood out to me but the main thing there is that I really prefer a thick mattress.

Meanwhile, for the size I am looking, from Ikea I can pick up one that sounds pretty good for under 600chf while ones that don't seem as great to me (because they're so thin in comparison) run up over 1000 chf for the same size.

Re: A decent quality mattress in Basel

i guess quality would mean...it's going to last more than 1 year, firm, good support... i haven't tried many Ikea ones, but aren't they all on the thinner side?

Actually nope. A lot of the mattresses I was looking at from "everywhere" else were only approx 16cm thick, while Ikea offers some that are quite thin at 14cm, they also offer some that are 26cm thick.

Hi Phoebelin,

There's also Conforama across the road from Ikea. They had some knockdown sales a while back.

Re: A decent quality mattress in Basel

We checked Conforama in June and we did not like any of the mattresses there.
I found the firm IKEA mattresses very good but of course it is of individual taste.
I bought some furniture in IKEA in Freiburg - it is cheaper plus there is a VAT reimbursement.

Re: A decent quality mattress in Basel

It was suggested in some earlier post:

http://ravensberger-matratzen.de

They deliver to Switzerland, refund the VAT, and we liked their mattresses.
