Making friends and joining groups

I'm looking to join some team sports or social groups in order to try and make some new friends.
Recently, my group of friends have started to leave Switzerland and I feel lonely sometimes.

My German is terrible so if there are any English speaking activities, I'd be really grateful if you could point me in the right direction.

Happy to try new sports or activities that I can learn from like photography.

Thanks for any help/advice you can give me.

Have a look at the events page on this site - you will find a mixture of regular and one-off events that cover sport, culture and social activities.

ALso, have a look at the "Meet Up" webiste - find the Zurich pages to see all the activities that are on offer, or do a search for the activities that may interest you. I can thoroughly recommend the OUtdoor ENthusiasts - trekking groups - great for getting out, meeting a lot of different folk, keeping fit and for seeing lots of the Swiss countryside.

Yep, definitely get into the Social Events section of this site, there are a heap of things there ...

Now, if you're comfortable in the water, you could come along to Oerlikon pool on a Tuesday night and try underwater hockey. We start the warm-up with the underwater rugby people about 20:00 in Lane 1, and stay in that lane until about 22:00, with various bits of skills training and a mini-game ...
