Introduction into wild camping

Fellow forumers and forumettes,

I'm toying with the thought of going camping..wild camping that is...making a huge bon fire, standing butt naked on top of a waterfall screaming and making grunting sounds, climb trees to kill koalas for food etc. ya get the picture. Having been quite the urban person, I do not know how to go camping, sure I've been camping before but I'm looking for some tipps on how to get started...what to do, what not to do...starter gear etc. Any info will be forthcoming.

Erm... do you have a plan for your toilet issues?

Given the earlier thread, I am not sure how you would survive one hour with mother nature.

A tent and sleeping bag is quite useful, too.

And some food.

and a clue.

I used to work in a camping / hiking shop in the states... I used to love it when first time wanna-be hikers would come in with a shopping list half a mile long

"will sir, be requiring a pack mule with that ? "

and then asking where they are planning on hiking and find they are going to do an afternoon hike in Vermont.

How long you going for? Packing for 2 nights is quite a difference than 2 weeks.

Will you be hiking too, or just camping?

I'm thinking of taking it easy in the beginning..so, a good 3 months should do it. Kidding, a night or 2...at first.

I don't think that wild camping is permitted in Switzerland!

this is a good book LiB, but before you begin any serious back woods camping I would suggest you watch this movie two or three times.

can you squeal like a pig boy?
