Drinking in St. Gallen

What is drinking age for beer in St. Gallen, is it 16 like in most of Switzerland or different?

You do realise that there are many things to do in Switzerland instead of drinking right? Do you want to waste your time getting drunk?

Re: Drinking in St. Gallen

You are allowed to purchase and drink beer and wine at your age. Always have your passport on you to proof your age. There are plans to only sell alcoholic beverages to people >18, but they are not in place yet afaik.

Is that supposed to be as patronising as I read it?

Silly question - what did you want to do when you were 16?

Ofcourse that I realise, this was just an informative question that i needed to know, and I dont think about wasting time only for drink. I asked this to know can I or can not ask for beer when sometimes I go out, because I am still not 18.
Everyone have different stories about registering on forum, maybe someone registered to read about news, someone needed to know something about internet, I wanted to know this and that is why I registered.

Re: Drinking in St. Gallen

Probably COOP cashiers read this forum, because today, the very first time, I've been asked for ID. And I wanted to buy a beer. No, I'm not sixteen, however sometimes I wish.

And to be informed, is it bad if I want to drink couple of beers(in boundaries of normal ofc.), and for your information, my grades in school are the best(and I mean it, all A`s or whatever they are called) so I know about obligations, studying, so I really dont need this kind tutoring.

The sale of beer to under-16 year olds is prohibited in St. Gallen:

Sorry Gata, but there are plenty of us who managed to both pass our exams and sneak a couple of cold ones at that age. Good for him for bothering to ask.

I wouldn't worry about it! You're doing the right thing by asking. That shows responsibility most of the "kids" in your age don't have. If you're good at school, which it seems like you are, and everything else works out as well, why not drink a beer once in a while. It's your right! By law!
