...that's without taking into account the hygiene conditions of most stalls selling them.
McDonalds burgers contain fecal material too.

Would McDonalds be the biggest in the world if they didn't spend the most money on marketing?

And the choice is good, healthy and cheap beating a McD meal on all 3 counts.
Why does nowhere in Basel do stilton and jam bagels

Certainly they do, but there is a difference IMO, between selling millions of burgers vs. a few sausages (in comparasence).

Not everything that originated in Uncle Sam's backyard, made it this far .... and I always thought TGIF's was more a diner/bar as opposed to just a fast food joint.

Anyway, in Le Bouveret, you do have the Aquaparc and Swiss Vapeur Parc, which aren't widely available throughout Switzerland, either.
In the 1990s an attempt was made to start up a 'donut' shop in Kloten. It didn't get off the ground one inch - which pleased me because the brain behind the flop had a beautiful chestnut tree in full blossom removed in order to create parking spaces - which still lie void of use.

the concept of fast food here is overcooked sauage, dry spaetzli, a piece of hard bread and a Rivella. which is a light-years improvement over McDonald's or any of the other chains.

that said, a Qdoba would be nice.
LOL, you got that right... a pizza or calzone takes an hour... maybe just the place we tried, it was very awesome, so no complaints.

Re: Fast Food

I would also consider Doener Kebap to be fast food. There are many such places around Switzerland (for example Kebap house in Zurich or Magnum in Zug).

I mean, they set a worldwide industry standard and basically took the production line concept from the automotive industry and transplanted it into the food industry, whilst ensuring the very same taste and quality throughout the country.
Seems like you're more fascinated with the concept than with the food.

I agree.

Re: Fast Food

You might find Burger King or KFC if you look hard enough. I think it's nice not to have fast food chains at every street corner like it is in the US where I'm from.
