Re: Coop Küchenstartrophy

It's blatantly obvious that Coop finds a product or two that a manufacturer cannot shift or is no longer making.

The SIGG pans were surplus because SIGG started making only water bottles.
The Kappa luggage was so horrid that Kappa could not sell it.
The current kitchen machines are blatantly average.
The balls were average quality and probably being sold at cost price.
The glasses were probably end of stock. I potentially have too many large wine glasses as they are reasonably durable....

But there have been some gems. The knives, the pans, the balls (I still have tennis balls left for the dogs!!) - so it's not bad. And you certainly don't want to wait until the last minute or go to a small Coop to get what you want

Re: Coop Küchenstartrophy

The comparable deals at Volg have been pretty good. We got some great kitchen tools (knives and utensils). The wine glasses and wine were good. The current dishes they're offering look pretty nice and you can get a plate from Glasi Hergiswil.

Pity there isn't a Volg nearby here in Thalwil.

It seems like tons of people participated in that offer though!

I see the brown Kappa bags and cases all the time on the luggage reclaim conveyor belts at the airport.

Personnally I reckon it must be really annoying..

"oooh - there's a brown Kappa suitcase, it must be mine, yeay, my bag was off first for once!"

only to be disappointed when you realise that it belongs to somebody else!

I'm guessing you'll have to repeat the above at least five times before it really is your bag...

Boring..
Aggghhh, this happened to me and was bloody annoying, because I told the swiss ****.....

BSL (basel) - MGP (malaga).

Family Happy complete with 4/5 COOP brown bags. Each one bedecked with a LH Sen tag. Whilst waiting for our baggage I see SWISS **** grab a COOP brown bag and rocket off with it. He hasn't checked the name tag and I can foresee the kids toys or something going missing for 5 days of a 6 day holiday. I intercept him and ask him to confirm that he has his bag, "yes yes, I am a senator" he says, "yes yes me too" I say, he looks confused "but I have the senator tag on my luggage, look" and he gestures towards the red label. "yes yes, me too, are you sure you have the right bag", Swiss **** who is clearly working on some kind of one-sentence delay system replies "oh, you're a sentaor too", "yes" I reply (wondering how many of my other bags are doing laps on the carrosel now, ". So we shake hands (he's obviously really happy to meet another senator) and he checks his baggage label, its his and off he goes.

Later on leaving the airport he waves (he's queuing for a hire car as we pass) and makes a joke about Senators. He's clearly new.

Anyway, return journey. Swiss **** is on the flight back as well, I point him out to Mrs Happy and say something witty and clever and omnipotent such as "watch that ****, he'll have our luggage away in a second...". Anyway, we're slow off the plane on our return and sure enough, we've got 3 of our 4 COOP bags and the fourth doing the loop-de-loop of the carrosel is not ours. "bloody blinking flip" I tell Mrs Happy, "that Swiss ****" has run of with our bags, "what a ****" she agrees. As we wait to for the push chairs and before we head off to missing-luggage dept who should come charging back into the luggage area - Swiss ****, with our luggage. He says "hahahaha I took the wrong luggage", "yes" I say "thats because you are not the only senator with COOP luggage in Switzerland" "hahaha he says" and of he goes (one hand shake later)".

grrrr

The seasoned practice I believe is to take a ****e piece of material - cord / ribbon - and tie it around the handle/handles of the bags, so it stops ****s nicking your bags and makes yours easier to find in a pile.

From another point of view, it was interesting that BSL security let him back into the luggage collection area after he'd made his mistake-discovery. Clearly they are used to it.

Re: Coop Küchenstartrophy

A few comments on COOP promotions:

1. We collected the pans and have been very happy with them
2. We collected the luggage and have been very happy with it. Personally I rate it, not average at all. But I've always bought cheap crap stuff before.
3. The current promotion, regardless of the products, allows you to change the points for airmiles. WooHoo!
4. I am under no illusions that the promotions are in anyway good value, I am sure COOP is making a profit out of the pans/suitcases too. Just not as much as they normally would.

Re: Coop Sticker Collections chat

If anyone is interested in stickers for the current Coop promotion for the Villeroy & Boch bath towels and accessories, please PM me as I already have two sheets full of stickers which I will not be using.

Re: Coop Sticker Collections chat

I like the look of the towels from the current promotion; they seem to be good quality. Not sure what they would be like after a wash though and why is the colour choice so limited? White is impractical, grey looks mucky and the Swiss red - so predictable!

If its anything like the last one, I worked out you are paying as much for the airmiles than if you took the "buy up to 10,000 air miles per year" option that the airline FF programmes often offer. Therefore, if you really want airmiles then collect your points and hand over your cash.

But if you like buying airmiles or need a few extra to top up for a flight, then it might make sense.
