Point of order: the mags that you can buy in a newsagent are still pretty much limited to simple pictures of naked people - 'proper' porn is not normally found in such places, and would certainly not be on display where kids could get at it.
Surely "proper"porn is just a google search away?

I find it much more offensive to see rifles and hand-guns on sale when shopping for milk in the U.S.

A gun can do more harm than a dildo.

are you sure about that ?

Some of us have jobs to tend to...and thus, .
And this has answered a conundrum I`ve often pondered ...... WHO are these people who frequent EF during the daytime? Are they actually in a place of employment? ...... and so, yes, they are! Or some of them are.

(Body language speak: Sitting in front of computer, looking totally absorbed .............. must be working, huh?)

Hmmm, personally I would welcome a full body sculpture of intercourse.... rather than a set of handcuffs...my young adult kids have been binging their sex partners home for years,...

Makes for interesting breakfasts in our home. :-))

I cannot stand anyone, but specially people with kids, getting all "oh no how disgusting" when the subject is sex, toys or anything related. For heavens if you have kids, you pretty much indulged in the activity, or are all this kids conceived immaculately?

The stupid thing is, kids will pass such shop and not even realise what it is, for them its a shop like any other because they do not have the concept of sex, unless of course when they pass such shop the parents (remember the kid was conceived immaculately) have a prude attack and go "oh no that disgusting shop" and then the kid goes "what is disgusting about that shop"? Thats how you plant the seed.

If you ignore the shop until the day the kid says "mum what does that shop sell", then you know your child is ready for "the talk".

Its a legal business and it has as much right to have an open shop and advertise its good as Coop or migros, i will even admit to being a costumer, yes i do have 2 kids and no they were not conceived immaculatly

HOWEVER, though I do accept the the exotic business, I personally would choose to introduce the subject, on a more natural approach. Not sure I would want my daughter to ask her first sex questions about handcuffs....I would rather see full body sculptures of intercourse....
What makes you think that i introduce the subject of sex to my children using handcuffs and sex toys? Just because I accept them as part of life, does not mean that i go flash them to my kids, nor would i recommend others to do so.

What i tried to say is, kids do not have a formed opinion on the subject unless their attention is reverted to it, so if you pass the shop and ignore it and make no mention of it, you child's 1st sex question will be as normal as any other kid who passes migros daily, because is not the shops they pass that influences them, but what the parents do when passing such shops.

Re: Shopping Bridge, Erotic Shop and Cultures

Funny part is my need to put DUCT TAPE over my mouth, whilst in USA...due to my "liberal" tones....guess it is all about perspective...no?

My husband thought something else, last night, when I spontaneously pulled off my silk dress to drive into a prominent Swiss surgeon's indoor pool, for a little swim.....

I LOVE sex...and celebrate sensuality, but do not like to be victimized by someone else's idea of business...or "sexiness"....

Some of us have jobs to tend to...and thus, I apologize for not being able to answer your intelligent post any sooner. As I understand, you're a woman and logic isn't necessarily a stronghold of the fairer gender. This being said, let's agree to disagree, you rely on your assumption that it's a cultural factor and I say that she didn't mention any cultural traits in particular. Either way, it's Friday evening and I have more pressing business to tend to.

Can you be "victimised" if you aren't a customer of theirs, though? Really?

By the same token, vegetarians would perhaps feel "victimised" by walking past a butchers shop.

There is obviously a demand for sex toys, ergo shops selling them have to exist. The fact that you are offended by them is nothing to do with "someone else's idea of business" or "sexiness". It is a bone fide, legal business for sexiness.

If they were running out of the shop bashing people over the head with them, THAT would be victimisation but they're just supplying a demand.

Don't ever go into an Anne Summers shop in the UK (unless you are carrying a bottle of smelling salts in your handbag !).

Tutting, grabbing your kids firmly by their arms, and storming off in the opposite direction vowing never to walk there again would have been ridiculous. Posting here, asking questions and being receptive to other countries' customs is very far from being ridiculous!
