Chocolate consumption and Nobel Prizes

T'is the season for Nobel Prizes and so the august New England Journal of Medicine just published an article: Chocolate Consumption, Cognitive Function, and Nobel Laureates:
Quote:
There was a close, significant linear correlation (r=0.791, P<0.0001) between chocolate consumption per capita and the number of Nobel laureates per 10 million persons in a total of 23 countries ... Switzerland was the top performer in terms of both the number of Nobel laureates and chocolate consumption.
Probably better to read the comment on that article (which led me to the original) in Slate: Why Do the Swiss Eat So Much Chocolate? -- And does it help them win Nobel Prizes?. It contains an interesting capsule history of the development of the Swiss chocolate industry.

By contrast, wealthy Western Europe constitutes 6 percent of the world’s population, but eats 45 percent of its chocolate
Yeah. Sorry about that. I have a sweet tooth.
