Christmas volunteering &/or charity

i will stay here on Christams, not going home this time...and i was thinking i would enjoy doing some volunteer work - serving soup to the poor, helping some organization to distribute gifts to homeless kids, cooking for 50 kids, or even giving away some clothes, even singing some carolls. all these would make me feel more like home, make more happy than staying in the house and preparing a huge dinner for 2 people, and will put a feeling of something accomplished in my heart and a smile on my face.

any ideas where i could find such events to volunteer a hand to?

As a side issue just saw this:-

I always thought about volunteering in the French part, to help with my French, but alas I have now got a family and it is more difficult to get the time to do it.

Hi Archie,

Volunteering is quite different here in Switzerand than some other countries. There's one english speaking organization that can provide information and opportunities to participate. If you speak to Carolyn she can probaby answer your questions.
