Music in Swiss Stores

Recently, was back in US and forgot how different the shopping experience is there:

- Staff practically running you over to help
-Lots of loud store music, especially in 'hip' clothing stores like H&M etc-

Do Swiss stores blare cool music? Don't remember their being any cool music in the stores here?

I actually thought the loud music enhanced the shopping experience. Felt like I was in a cool club rather than elbowing my way through a crowd of bargain hunters.

Oh yes, the local Coop plays 80es stuff - makes me feel a teenager again

If just those spots would go away...

Re: Music in Swiss Stores

Compare apples with apples though - if you try a decent clothing shop in eg Sihlcity or Glattzentrum (is that an oxymoron?) then you'll definitely hear music in shops.

Staff running over to help is a lucky dip though - just like in lots of places in the world. It seems a global trait that the "cooler" the shop the more likely that the cryogenic-temperature staff may be too busy looking cool to deign to serve you.

Ugghh no thanks. I want to browse not be pounced on before I've even decided what I want.

Having said that, it is important to have staff on hand if you do have to ask them something.

Again, maybe it's just me but blaring music kind of upsets the browsing process. Plus I don't really want to have to yell above the music "IS THIS THE BRA YOU WERE LOOKING FOR??" to whomever I am on the shopping trip with.

Re: Music in Swiss Stores

I like the 80s era English music they play here in Schweiz. I guess Swiss German music is not really popular.
