In order to achieve this they have encouraged more smoking and mixing this new habit with increased intake of energy drinks to ensure greater exhalation of smoke to repel the Foehn.
I hear that it works even better, if you have a huge binge drinking session at least 5 times a week.

Yes, disturbed sleep, sinuses acting up, but worth the weather today.... or it would've been if I wasn't stuck in work looking at the weather out the window

Interestingly enough, we were talking about that in the pub last night, (between bouts of heavy smoking and drinking). It's a bit early for the Bise just yet.

Your Bise can happen at any time, though mostly felt during the colder months. It is usually a cooler wind from the North and arctic regions.

Re: Foehn wind?

I'm becoming quite fond of AussieSwiss's posts. They usually bring out a chuckle in me.

So back to this Föhn business:

The Swiss sleep badly because of:

1. the Föhn
2. the moon
3. the neighbours
4. other noises
5. troubling posts on EF

I believe in the Föhn's powers of causing anxiety and sleeplessness, especially among women. We are very sensitive creatures, you know.

For those who are actually interested about the Foehn, please just ignore the trolls, no point in feeding them.

This has to be the worst forum i've ever seen in terms of trolling and personal attacks.

Re: Foehn wind?

"Föhn" is known to cause headaches in certain people. They react to the sudden change of athmospheric pressure that comes with that kind of weather. Not sure about anxiety and insomnia though, olygirl.

As for the moon, it causes falling tide and rising tide, so why not be open to the possibility that it can also affect people. Just last week I was driving a night train (I am a railroad engineer) and noticed that more passengers than usual were behaving strange, blocking doors and so on. I mentioned this to another driver at dinner break and he just pointed to a moon calendar on the wall.

Now now, you have to learn to suck it up if you are to remain a permanent member of the forum. I never got an easy ride to begin with either, but I am still here

Let's be honest, some of your initial posts were full of a lot of hot air / foehn, it will die down soon enough I am sure....

Good god, you must be very young and naive.

In my experience, particularly of non-moderated forums and newsgroups since the mid-late '90s, this place is a pussycat. Populated in part by a few over-sensitive souls and very occasionally just a tiny bit over-moderated (for my liking) as a result, but reasonable postings, opinions and debating points nearly always elicit reasonable replies and discussions.

Long live the EF, says I, and long-live the sorts of responses you're complaining about.

Don't worry friend. All bullies are losers and will eventually get punished by life. Just wait and watch.
Here here, excellent post!

At least you can take comfort in the fact the bullies will likely end up with no friends, and possibly no job........., oh, hang on a minute

The University of Zurich has been conducting experiments to deal with this.

They figure with a concentrated energy effort, and larger than normal exhalation that the Foehn can be pushed back, particularly when the air is mixed with thicker particles.

In order to achieve this they have encouraged more smoking and mixing this new habit with increased intake of energy drinks to ensure greater exhalation of smoke to repel the Foehn.

Re: Foehn wind?

Didn't affect me at all, I slept like a rock. Perhaps I am Foehn-immune. Most likely, it was the excellent but heavy ossobuco and schnitzel dinner at this place, coupled with the Malbec, beer, cigarettes before and after, and coming from a long week at work.

Lesson learned: apparently, the effects of the Foehn can be neutralized by smoking, heavy eating, robust drinking, and excellent company of friends!

Must be led by one of Morgeli's followers - soon to follow to pastures new!

Maybe they should co-ordinate with CERN to supply the thicker particles?

You really are a fragile soul. This is the internet - it's always like this.

As others have said, if you think it's harsh on here, you should try some other forums.
