I slept like a log.

Got up at the usual time, smoked a couple of cigarettes, drank a Redbull, feeling great.

Don't forget, it's Friday! Off to the pub for some binge-drinking & chain-smoking Woo Hoo!
Let's be friends

For those who are actually interested about the Foehn, please just ignore the trolls, no point in feeding them.

This has to be the worst forum i've ever seen in terms of trolling and personal attacks.
But whatever, you HAVE to realize the PRO-factors of the Föhn :
- wonderful panoramic views (for example from Zürich to the Alps"
- some splendid warm days in autumn

A superb thing for photographers

It was hard to find the Thanks button for that post ^^^ of Wolli's on my 15" laptop -- but well-deserved!

Peter Föhn, an SVP Member from Muotathal, is known to cause headaches.
I've reflected before on how odd some surnames are, even in English, but somehow "Peter Hairdryer" doesn't seem appropriate for a thunderbolts 'n' lightning damn-the-foreigners politician!

Plus Foehn wind provokes more non-obvious suicides, which pays for our retirement funds just as smokers who die before age 60 do!

I wish his first name was Igor (or, of course, Ivan). And that he was a fan of ee cummings (but only for first names). And that he was the 5th in a line of Igor (or Ivan) Föhns.

Re: Foehn wind?

Yet another sleepless night, anyone else? Just checked the graph again and it was still over the 4 threshold for last night. http://www.meteocentrale.ch/en/weath...ise/foehn.html

However it looks like it will drop today, so hopefully i'll sleep better tonight. It will be interesting to see.

Pick up some orange blossom tea, found at health food stores and pharmacies... some component of orange blossoms helps us relax into sleep. Of course you have to give it a chance, so about an hour before you want to sleep, step away from the computer, turn off the TV (or watch something like Susie Sews, See Grass Grow or whatever - nothing exciting) and relax.

The tension garnered from the air pressure is probably what's keeping you from sleeping (on top of whatever other tension causing things may be happening for you), so doing what you can to ease that should help.

Good luck!

Re: Foehn wind?

The Föhn-wind is very common here in Switzerland, in my experience a lot of people complain about the effects it has on their health, I've heard of headaches and sleeplessness, but as as with every other bothersome ailment, I'd focus on a healthy diet, sleep promoting exercises/relaxation techniques, but most of all, embracing the good about the Föhn wind.

Did you know that the Föhn brings the most beautiful weather in the mountains? Clear views and a warm climate, means it's time to go hiking. But if outdoor fun isn't your thing, perhaps a Valium and a glass of wine?

"Herr Höhn" however was a farmer. Mr Höhn was the only farmer in Zch-Wollishofen. The City of Zürich, even before WWII had purchased a few farms in some "inner suburbs" and rented them out to interested farmers. Who had/have to agree to various conditions but profited/profit from the services of the City. Well, Mr Höhn was a good natured chap, and his wife even fairly popular in the quarter. They knew quite well that all such jokes in reality were aimed at the "Hauswart" of the neighbouring school-compound (Schulhaus+Sportplatz) "im Lee" who was feeling "miese" 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

For a better sleep, you should drink more red wine, and possibly a coffee at 9pm. And eat more onions. And do NOT go to bed before 10pm. And daily take a walk of 20 to 40 minutes either in downtown or along a lake.

I suspect that it is the lack of sleep that is causing the lack of humour.

You really are a fragile soul. This is the internet - it's always like this.

As others have said, if you think it's harsh on here, you should try some other forums.
How many have you seen ,two ??
