It should get warm again in March.

You're new here, aren't you?

Re: Weather

Hi,
we are debating whether to ski in the Jura Mountains at the beginning or end of February. We will actually be starting from Lajoux.

Any advice would be very welcome

Thanks

Re: Weather

Thanks for the weather report and recommendation to go (only probably?)
It would be good to know whether the beginning or end of Feb would be better.

That all depends on if and when it snows. that can vary from year to year.
ALso, keep in mind that Swiss schools have their winter (ski) holidays over Feb. I think they are staggered through the different cantons throughout the month.

Re: Weather

The problem with the Jura is, that at an average of 1000ish metres, it's not snow sure for the whole of the winter period. It's hard to predict whether the conditions will be good at any specific time, during the next couple of months or so. When you live here, it's no problem; when you visit, it's can be a bit hit and miss - pot luck.

Brace yourself for cold front within next few days: http://www.meteoschweiz.admin.ch/web/en.html

... and enjoy tons of fun on pistes and off pistes. I wish winter lasted long enough to be able to ski all over major resorts

quite interesting but the OP post was about prospects in the whole of FEBRUARY ! What can we say about the prospects of THAT month ?

Trendwise, I might recommend the first half of that month, as fairly often late February sees releatively warm weather. But this is reading out of a crystal ball

It is gonna be a great snow sports month as usual for this time of the year. My crystal ball tells me good skiing is to be had ahead. Lets not forget that snow always avails in the mountains. At worst case scenario if Graubünden and Luzern ski resorts fail the plan, one has to move to upper locations Zermatt or Valais.

Nice, but the OP clearly referred to the Jurassic areas

and NOT to the ALPINE areas
