One of my school friends got arrested for that... oh? Delicacy, you say?

Sorry, small misunderstanding...

Re: What is this? Found in my basement.

Sadly, I had already put it outside before I received this advice. In the morning I will go and see if I can find it and if so shall set up a shelter for it.

It's a wild animal. It will either survive on its own, or it will die and become breakfast for some other wild animal.

Relax: you did the right thing.

Re: What is this? Found in my basement.

No problem, it is not freezing yet. Make a shelter nearby, as described, and it will find it- hopefully. As said, our modern gardens are far too tidy these days- so a bit of help it very welcome.

DB - not quite sure what the other version of Toad in the Hole is - but let me guess.

For those non-Brits here 'Toad in the Hole' is a recipe where you part cook sausages in an oven tin- then cover with a savoury pancake mixture, which you pour over the very hot sausages and fat- and then bake in a hot oven. A bit the same as Yorkshire Pudding - which is served with roast beef. yummy.

Soft. Redback nothing to fear, just squash them with ya thumb.

Now, these bad boys are prevalent in Canberra. They love getting into your car and attaching themselves to the visor. Nice one for the ladies when they go to check the lippy.
But Huntsman spiders are not dangerous.

I've had the sun visor experience though - pulled down the visor when the sun got low and had one of those inches from my face.

I love Yorkshire pud and the names the Poms have given their dishes; Welsh Rarebit, Bubble and Squeak, Bangers and Mash. Not forgetting my favorite of Spotted Dick.

That is nothing compared to this one! If I would see one like this for real, I am sure I would have a heart attack!
I find scary the one with 3 eyes also but honestly I don't want to search for a picture because I am afraid I will have nightmares for a month!

I ask a simple question about an uninvited amphibian and it turns into the Spanish inquisition.

The cat is kept in the basement and never allowed out. If it is lucky I tie firecrackers to it's tail.

The cat is fed in the basement for a number of reasons such as;
  1. Fodder is stored down there.
  2. The cat does not eat where we do, because it is a cat and not a human.
  3. It is easier to clean the basement.
The cat is allowed to go outside (exhibit B and C) but it never wants to as it seems to prefer indoor life.

When it is booted out (once a day) it is pretty quick to start clawing to get back in (see exhibit A).

I assume the local avian life is pretty happy about this though; not to mention the resident toad....

Aww! Lovely cat!

I've had the spider/sun visor experience too! Luckily hubby was driving as I screamed, he screeched to a halt and I leapt out of the car !

Daughter hounded (no pun intended) me into submission and we went to SOS chats and found this unit. She has beautiful blue eyes and is impeccably behaved.

Actually, does anybody know of a cattery in Geneva?

Also, nice to see that she has a bell on her collar to give the garden birds a chance.

Re: What is this? Found in my basement.

What a beautiful cat.

We feed our cat in the basement too. He has a cat flap to allow access in and out if he wants to but he prefers to spend most of his time curled up asleep indoors either in his bed or on somebody's lap. We certainly don't keep him locked up down there. He lso has a bell but it doesn't stop him catching the odd bird om time to time although I think his bright orange fur helps them to get away most of the time.

I don't see any problem with feeding the cat down there as it restricts the smell and mess to the uninhabited part of the house.

Sorry I can't help with the cattery question.
