Sure. Or how do we get the gnomes to a save place once there is an invasion? No seriously, ever used the train on Sunday evening?

I hardly groan. But please call the police first and then if needed movie/intervention.
When people see that they are being filmed the chances that they stop what they are doing is higher by far than if they see somebody "just" calling the cops, also the documentation from the beginning is extremely valuable for prosecution.
And then there is the fun on You-tube.

Probably just a lover's tiff and it was the other guy's turn to play the dominant tram driver and wear the sexy outfit .....

There is a new psycho around Bellevue at the moment.

He is about 5'8" (170cm), late 30s to early 40's, slim build, shoulder length light brown hair (slightly receding).

He is a total nutter, and had a proper go at me...... didn't punch me, but he was well off the rails.
In Zurich? This fits the description of a loud, agitated man who approached a colleague and I in Basel , just after 5pm last Monday. We both moved on very quickly.

Calling the police is a mater of seconds. I do not believe that calling the police would stop any on going action nor is it a real thread when somebody says "Stop, or I will call the police!" The arrival of the police on the other hand is a real game changer. Additionally you can be broader and more heroic when you know that help is on the way. At the worst you will get beaten up too and then it is definitively too late to make the call.

PS: Can't this new cool phones film and dial at the same time? Oh I see the possibility of a new App. It starts filming and at the same time it will call 911, 112, 117, 999, or whatever is appropriate. If it is possible to have a data and a voice connection at the same time it should stream the video to a safe place so that it is still available if the worst case happens.

Between three and six month of a suspended prison sentence
Actual text from Art. 285 Swiss Criminal Code

Quote:
1.1 Any person who by the use of violence or threats prevents an authority, one of its members or a public official from carrying out an official act, or coerces them to carry out such an act, or attacks them while they are carrying out such an act shall be liable to a custodial sentence not exceeding three years or to a monetary penalty.

Public officials also include employees of undertakings in terms of the Railways Act of 20 December 1957, the Passenger Transport Act of 20 March 2009 and the Goods Transport Act of 19 December 20084 as well as employees of organisations operating with a licence from the Federal Office of Transport under the Federal Act of 18 June 2010 on the Security Units of Public Transport Companies.
But as Wolli says Swiss court go hardly to the limit, but it would be a suspended monetary penalty as prison means at least 6 month (Art. 40 Swiss Criminal Code). Laughable.

The ones who have lived a little bit longer in Zürich probably know "Merlin", a big bearded man who used to preach at Bellevue and Witikon and in Trams and Busses. Usually he would preach against Lucifer and speak directly to him. People who didn't know him just moved a few meters away, the others were just smiling. We had a few really cool discussions with him.

The best ever was a guy about 25 years ago. He was always on the last tram in direction of triemll reciting the whole film "Casablanca" in different voices. Great free entertainment.
The one and only remains the nearly nakes rollerskate guy telling car drivers off for using unecological means of transport.

My personal favourite was that lady with her parrot hanging around Stauffacher a couple of summers ago.

I find it sad that our society has not enough space for weirdos... even MannImBett got banned! (not sure for what - surely not for pussy potato? EF was never that fluffy...)

Yeah right, you must not know about our judicial system here. Rapist get 3 month in Switzerland. He'll be sent home if they catch him at all.

Swiss courts, actually AGAIN, as up into the 1990ies, give prison sentences of two or three months.

You quote Art 285, but the phrase

liable to a custodial sentence not exceeding three years or to a monetary penalty.

contains the OR, which means it in principle can be both ways. But as was reported in the media, new guidelines encourage the judges rather to go for suspended prison sentences as having a deeper psychological effect

Well, THIS here sounds different

However, when saying "3 to 6 months" I concluded that the action would be regarded as "physical attack". If it however is regarded as a minor act of violence like the classic "Ohrfeige" then it will be between CHF 50.-- and CHF 120.--

You assume that "sent home" means sent to another country ? "Sent home" would simply be "sent home to his lodgings". At worst to his Canton. The Zürcher Kantonspolizei may even drive him home to his Canton of Residence

Say, does that include getting drunk together?
(And why is it only targetted towards women?)
