The Postman Never Rings Once

A few times in the past few months I've found a slip in the letterbox from the Postman.. "Go and pick up your parcel at the Post Office".

In each case.. I've been working at home during the morning and the doorbell hasn't rung. It's really annoying and inconvenient.

I feel better now that I've shared it with the group.

Anyone else had the same issue ? Any possible rationals or solutions ?

Re: The Postman Never Rings Once

Talk to the postie and tell him/her that you're normally in. It might work...

May be a silly question but does your doorbell work?

Also, we once had a problem until we noticed that some idiot had swapped some of the name plates on the doorbells around.

Or you have a lazy postie.

The first step is clear. Communicate!

Then see what happens...

Don't assume that the worst case senario is going to happen. Even an odd ball's ship can be manipulated to sail in the same direction as all the others. It just takes patience and a firm but not angry look when dealing with the Swiss. And don't forget to smile! (but not too much!)

Re: The Postman Never Rings Once

Normally any parcel, above the size of a magazine, is delivered by separate postie in a transit van - and not your regular letter one; and sometimes not even out of your local P.O./depot (although undelivered parcels are left at your local one).

They have a much larger area to cover and if they have many deliveries in apartment buildings, this is very time consuming - much easier just to put a ticket in the box, and dump off a load of undelivered packages back to the P.O. ......... but you didn't hear that from me.

Just make sure you talk to the right postie, and if necessary say something at the local P.O.

This happens in the UK too, a friend of mine watched it happen to him several times from his kitchen window.

Re: The Postman Never Rings Once

Probably a waste of time talking to your local post office. Most parcels are delivered from a separate regional delivery office, so you'll have to find out where that is and complain there. Indeed your local post office probably likes to get the parcels as they're probably paid to hold and deliver them.

From what I read on the other thread on this topic, it isn't a waste of time to talk to your local post office - they will take the complaint with glee and shunt it through the system.

You should not the day and parcel number each time this happens and it will get back to the delivery guy/girl. Just be sure to smile and thank him/her lots when s/he finally rings the doorbell to deliver!
