Bringing up again this topic.

Anyone had a positive experience with buying a new Daytona fast? No waiting list of got a specific date etc.?

Samnaun, chrono24 etc. were good suggestions, anything else worth mentioning? I am looking for a physical shop/official dealer somewhere in Switzerland.

So, of course, you realise that if you want a SS Daytona the authorised dealer is out of the question. You would be looking at the grey market and you must expect to pay waaaaaaay over retail ~CHF25-30K (It's a CHF12K watch!)


If it's a new watch, then it shouldn't matter which dealer you choose, although, I think, few of them will have actual premises.


Or you could (probably) walk into an AD and get a gold Daytona for not much more.

Well, you were either incredibly lucky, have an incredible history with the AD or this was longer than 10 years ago. (Although the current gen is less than 10 years old)



If you can now get a SS Daytona in less than a year I will give you CHF15K for it.

It was in 2013 and 2016 (made my request shortly after it was shown at Baselworld and received it about 6 weeks after public release). No history at all with them at all and it’s all I’ve ever bought from them.

I’ve no interest in trying again, but if I did, I know where the market price is and it isn’t CHF 15k!

Exactly! Why do you think that is? You were extremely lucky! Having said that, I got my Submariner in two months, but that was a fluke. (Although at that time, 2012, there was a guaranteed 12 month wait for the Sub and 18 month for the Daytona)

No idea. I put my name down for the old one expecting to have to wait years, so just did it and forgot about it. They had both black and white face in the safe for me to try on.

For the new one, I went in wearing my old one, told them I had bought it from them and was interested in the new one. They had prototypes again with both faces that I was able to try on. They almost seemed surprised when I said I wanted to order the new one.

Both times I went for the black face, as despite the white one looking better in pictures and appearing to be worth more, the black looks better on my wrist.

These days I mainly wear a Garmin!

Bucherer in Luzern. During normal conditions there are a couple buses of tourists shopping there. But, no tourists these days, so a magnificent shop at your disposal.

I highly doubt they will have a stainless steel Daytona available and likely no stainless steel models at all. The market for them has gone completely irrational.

I know a pub in Belfast where anything can be got for the right price.

And the watch will still be warm.

...they have a nice Rose Gold Daytona, 35,000.- only. I’m a Deep Sea wearer because you get a lot of watch for 11,900.- and can swim a couple of KMs deep with it..

CHF35K for the rosegold is a relative bargain compared to the CHF25K you would need to spend on the SS.


I like the DeepSea, although it's a bit of a monster. But a SS Rolex that you can still get close to retail....
