This can't possibly be true and you are making it all up!!

Sadly not....Carrefour Segny near Geneva v Coop or Migros Lausanne (or anywhere I guess!)
Having said that, in an uncharacteristic fit of value provision I saw it savagely slashed to 13.95 in a Coop 'Action' a week or so back....and by a bizarre quirk of fate Migros had the exact same idea. Weird, eh!

Broccoli .
So, to stay on topic - how much does an average sized bunch of Broccoli cost? @ Sfr11 p kilo.

If one bought a kilogram of flower seeds it would cost in the region of Sfr5,000, but we pay about Sfr3 for a little packet.

Re: Expensive broccoli

It's worth observing that the OP lives on the Gold Coast.

I doubt many people would be prepared to pay that much for broccoli in Thurgau or Uri or Glarus.

Local market, local prices.

On my way home later I`m stopping at Volg to check out the weight of an average sized bunch of broccoli, and price per kilo.
At least it gives me something to do, makes my life worth living, justifies my breathing

I have a very simple solution: Don't eat broccoli. It's disgusting anyway. And don't force your children to eat it just because it's green and you have the idea in your head that it's healthy.

Speak for yourself.

My kids love Broccoli and end up fighting to see who gets the last bit.

I've got this theory that people who find their children have a problem with food usually have a problem with it themselves.

Re: Expensive broccoli

A tip for parents whose children dislike broccoli: it bears a startling resemblance to little trees - or full sized trees to an enormous hungry giant.

Spatzli, on the other hand, resembles a herd of terrified sheep.

Just saying, like. Could be useful.

Ahh yes, so it's ok for you to write to write a post based on your outright imaginations with blanket labelling of people who buy designer gear (a good 70%+ of this forum I'll wager) as ignorant and lacking in intelligence... but not ok for me to criticize you for it. Blind hypocrisy, gotta love it.

PS: Your faux Zen-like defence mechanism of using reverse-psychology to comically portray others as 'angry' or 'in distress' simply for disagreeing with you may work on some, but lets face it, it's also absolute twoddle. I'm not angry or in distress, I just think you are (and I doubt im alone in that) talking complete rubbish, and am simply saying such.
Thanks for taking the time for the red blobbie thing. Did it charge your batteries and make you feel better? Put some Zooom into your life?
Those blobby things are designed to rid one of pent-up stress and frustation, it`s good to use them now and again.
But I really would have rather preferred a Greenie, to relieve my deep feelings of inequality and insecurity.

Can somebody (maybe one of the legends) send me a copy of their Swiss book of brainwashing. My Gemeinde didn't give me a copy when I registered, so I feel all left out.

I've seen lesson 5...

The belief that international brands sold in Switzerland are somehow of better quality than the the same product sold in a third world country such as Germany, France or the UK.

I'm still waiting on my Adidas running shoes I paid 50 UK pounds for (75 CHF) to fall apart...it's been 4 months now. If I had read the Swiss book of brainwashing I would definately have gone to Sportxx or Athleticum and paid CHF 270 for the same shoes. I would then feel good about supporting the Swiss economy by parting with an extra 195 CHF.

Must be the transport costs.....
You are amusing. When you argue, you say "I heard from somewhere that...", and when I, I am giving you actual FACTS. When you cannot out talk us, with your opinions, you accuse us of being brainwashed.

If the facts were different, then this discussion would be different.

Now you are talking about shoes. When this was about vegetables. If you have lived internationally, as you clearly have, when it comes to sports shoes, and the like, you will know it's about local demand. And that, say a pair of Levi's will cost you from 10 to 50 US dollars in the US, and that you can go to France and pay triple, and here 4 to 6 times as much.

But when you have some products that are astronomical in one place, in others it is real cheap. Some things I don't get. Like the 110 CHF made in china microscope I looked at for my son in Manor, was also for sale at the Carrefour in Mulhouse for 10 euros. I didn't buy either because it was crap. That I don't understand. As it wasn't some well known brand name.

But it's not all like that.

When you get some real info, isntead of opinion, then you can call me brainwashed. If you knew me personally then you would never say that about me. But I am not going to sit here and say nothing, when you are totally wrong, and if I do, there is going to be some name calling in retaliation.

It is healthy, but what does that have to do with this discussion? This could be about over priced barley, what does that matter?

No, as then we'd be talking about pizza since it's considered a vegetable by the Obama administration and we all know how expensive a simple plain pie can be in Switzerland....stick to the broccoli.

No it's not.

I have a child in the public school system eating lunches that conform to the new school lunch standards. Trust me, pizza is counted partly as a vegetable. I could write at length about the problems they created by trying to solve another one but....I won't digress here.

I've read that they are bad. I also know they were bad before Obama.

Can't your child take a healthy packed lunch - raw broccoli with a yoghurt dip, for example?

(Did you see how I steered that back on topic?)
