How easy is it, to join a pistol club here?

We all have our passion, So how easy is it to join a pistol club here?

And can you then registers and own firearms ?

I still have a collection in safe custody in France I would love to bring here.

In France silencers are legal for gun owners is this also the case here ?

what about a private collection of dirks, throwing knives and Arabic daggers ?

Also must this be stored in a gun safe same as France.

Feel a little naked here with just my black beans and chick peas cosh made from a sock

thank you in advance

Hi
You have to register the arms at the police. In some cantons you have to send in your criminal records with the application, and in addition have to go to the police to have a chat with them.
They will give you a 'Waffenschein' (gun licence), and then you can join a club.

Hi Thank your great informative post

So I have to bring them all in first or just go there tell them what I have and see what is legal here?

Record check is no problem, would they then ask you if you are qualified to use those guns?

great to have level minded people like you on here

Re: How easy is it, to join a pistol club here?

Generally, you need Swiss nationality or a C permit (Niederlassungsbewilligung) for the Waffenschein.

If you only have a B or L permit, you need to apply for an exceptional licence to buy or hold weapons by demonstrating you are entitled to carry weapons in your home country.

Re: How easy is it, to join a pistol club here?

I am not sure how to get the weapon over the border, but its going to be a lot of paperwork
Silencers are illegal in Switzerland, except if you have a special permission from your canton which is almost impossible to get.
But joining a local gun club shouldn't be a problem, it is possible to shoot in a club without a personal gun. I did this for years I started when I was ten years old first the bb guns, then 22.LR and after this I started to shoot on 300 meters with the sig 550.
I would say it depends on the club, but I would call and ask them.

To buy a gun you need a criminal records check (strafregisterauszug)not older then 3 months, you can get this at the post office. and then you need a waffenerwerbsschein which you an get at your local police station.
after you submitted both forms they will invite you for a interview.
I am not sure how this works if you are not a Swiss citizen.

this could be something for you

From the Swiss government website:
http://www.fedpol.admin.ch/content/f....html#a_faq_12

'I have purchased a weapon abroad or I wish to move to Switzerland from abroad and bring my weapon into Switzerland. How do I proceed?
To import a weapon into Switzerland you require a permit from the Central Weapons Office at the Federal Office of Police. The application form and a list of the required documents is available here.'

Then the link goes to the application form, which seems to be available only in German. (holler if you need help with translation)
This one is for importing the arms:
http://www.fedpol.admin.ch/content/d...such-ngv-d.pdf
You will have to send it to the Central Weapons Office at the Federal Office of Police: 3003 Bern, Zentralstelle Waffen

This one is for the gun licence:
http://www.fedpol.admin.ch/content/d...such_wes-d.pdf
You have to fill it out and then send it to the Police in your canton.

Re: How easy is it, to join a pistol club here?

its quite easy,

find your local gun shop, have a chat, see which ones have a range or access to. (most will ask you to attend a safety course).

some shops have a private range but there will be one near you.

if you hold a C permit its a simple process, apply for the permit, wait about 2 weeks and collect from the plod shop, i didnt have an interview BTW.

if no C permit then you can still hold a weapon, provided its something you can legally hold in your home country.

as I have a C i didnt discuss the ins and outs of home country regulations further.

most rifle ranges are or have closed down for winter, indoor ranges are open, but majority rifle ranges are outside. pistol is no problem all year round.

gun security here is quite slack, it just has to be locked away - noo definition if it has to be in a safe or not.

majorit of the army issue weapons are in the wardrobes, thats another thing most ranges cater for the sig line of rifles rather than " normal" rifles. check with your local shop is prob the best you can do.

there is a .50 club in switzerland also btw if you fancy that but the rounds are a bit expensive.

First to the daggers/knifes. I usually have two or three pocket knifes with me almost always, and right on the wall opposite to me there is a nice hand-mide Toledo-Dagger, a genuine Omani Dagger and a genuine Ceylonese Kris

But then on to the clubs/associations. Here some links to places where people will help you

http://www.apsvz.ch/
http://www.psza.ch/index2.php
http://www.schiessverein-wollishofen.ch.vu/
http://www.sgz.ch/htdocs/?m=index&action=view_home

> You have to see that there are far more associations for rifles than for pistols, as in Swiss military service, all soldiers and corporals are equipped with rifles, only the officers are equipped with pistols
> all follks at such associations will try hard to get new customers

Have you considered a Remington 700 in .338 Lapua Magnum? Storage shouldn't be a problem.

Get an HK SL8. I doubt you will find a suitable range for 12.7-20mm.

Hello,

It depends on the club. There is a Shooting Club very cool in Geneva. You can bring your own weapons without any authorisation
