That special feeling

Christmas mood anyone? I find my self listening to Christmas songs on a snowy Sunday, has "Last Christmas" been on the Swiss radio yet? And are these annoying elevator-type songs on at the shopping malls?

I suppose it's time to get Harvey the skeleton in. Halloween is over and he might get a cold out there.

(Barry Manilow now on "Because it's Christmas", SIGH)

Re: That special feeling

We decorated the tree last night and were treated to a white landscape this morning. Christmas tunes are on pretty much constantly here...

I'm getting into the spirit!

Tree is nice. I put some decoration in front of the door and we have one of these advent wreaths on the table. My teenage kids insist on getting their indivudualized Christmas calenders and they enjoy the little treats every day, even if they are officially too old for them. I guess I will keep on making them until they have their own kids. And then I will be making them for my grandchildren

The Christians are at it again. Bless them all. Nice to see traditional pictures of donkeys in the nativity scene.

I always like a decent shot of an ass.

Enjoyed the Christkindli market yesterday in Zurich yesterday, listened to Christmas songs at home today while looking out onto the snow. Wandered into Baden with the camera this afternoon taking pics of Christmas trees, snow, more snow, had a warming Gluehwein, and... we've done most of our Christmas shopping! Yeeeh!

So you're ahead of me, I only got for the kids, a new laptop for him and a car (YES!!) for her, but that's combined Christmas/18th birthday, which is on January 1st.

A car?! Make sure that whatever Santa Claus visits your house makes a stop at ours next. The Santa Claus that lives around here tends to leave socks and ties.

Maybe I'm on his naughty list...

I guess you are She only gets because in 2 years from now she will hand it down to her brother and buy her own. And it is a used one, of course. One probelm is, how do I wrap it up? And how does it fit under the tree?

I, too, am feelin' the spirit. I just put our tree up and had a little bout of OCD while trying to arrange the ornaments perfectly.

I just hope Mr. Biscuits (one year old boy) will leave the tree alone!

Happy holiday season, everyone! I hope you're having a warm, cozy Sunday...

Cats and glittering Christmas ornaments - oh yes, I know. And an excited doggy wagging his tail under the Christmas tree, dangerous.

I believe I told you the story when, many years ago, having two young kids and a dog, I wanted to save my really valuable antique Christmas decoration from destruction and asked my mom for the plastic ones she still had from OUR childhood. The day I wanted to put them up on the tree I placed them on the couch. My son was climbing up and down the couch and I told him to stop and then - he fell in the plastic decoraton and destroyed it completely. AAAAAAh these CHrsistmas memories are killing me.

Re: That special feeling

Lol.

Yeah, I thought I'd try to be clever and put the tree up in the corner of our dining room -- more out of the way than where I'd normally put it, in the living room. I said to my husband: "Maybe he [the baby] won't notice."

Yeah right!

Re: That special feeling

I'd strongly recommend the Christmas market in Sargans, if anyone is in the area. It's up in the old part of town, just underneath the castle, and very, very Christmassy indeed.

Unfortunately, the opportunity to watch a fat Englishman strolling through the market plucking away at his new balalaika has been and gone, so you'll just have to enjoy the canned classical music instead...

EDIT: you'll have to hurry... the market finishes at seven this evening!

Aw, that's sad.

I love seeing street performers here in CH because, for one thing (and for whatever reason), they seem to be few and far between...

Oh, it wasn't a street performer... just a very impatient person with a new toy (mind, steel strings and zero degrees make a very painful combination...)
