Unruly Kiddies

I was smashed on the head by a little thug ! by snowball. I grew up differently, i was on a bike and could have crashed. We all have fun with snowballs but , even as a kid i knew not to do that. Also ,i encountered a team of little ones whojust walk, not looking around.. not caring.Again i was on my bike.. i had to get off and wait for them to pass. Maybe its just where i live but.. really..

I have never seen any kids walk in the road here? Well, only to cross it.

Re: Unruly Kiddies

I think that sort of thing can happen anywhere.

When I was about 13 years old and living in the U.S., a little girl (about 6 years old) threw a rock at my head!

Re: Unruly Kiddies

Really??? Growing up in Canada with a long winter of snow. We used to do castles, tunnels, slides and snowballs battles. We also used to throw snowballs to people passing by! Most of the time, we have snowballs coming back our way!

That was so mush fun!

Our last winter in Basel, we had a great snowballs battle with the neighbourhood kids. I now miss it.

No ! i was just on the shortcut through the back streets .. it just worried me as even though some could see me coming they wouldnt back down.. and i had to stop. And let them pass.In my day , we deferred to anyone bigger ! its not a problem tho.. Ref the one who hit me... it was a good shot ¨¨ and i did stop , and thought, and then didnt return ! close tho.

If you were riding on the path, then they probably felt no need to move.

Next time, have some prepared snow balls on board to make them move

Ah.. in reply to to the american beach.. where it was just sand. I then realised that as a kid i also did throw something , without thinking. Hence .. sandball in her mouth. So , i guess i should not be worried !

So you were hit on the head with a snowball while riding your bike?

I've got to hand it to the little fella, hitting a moving target is hard enough, but he managed a head shot.

Way to go.

Re: Unruly Kiddies

I remember hiding behind bushes and throwing rocks at cars as they drove by when I was around 6 or 7 (AGES ago). We knew it was naughty but did not realize just how bad and downright dangerous it was. I imagine kids today are just as naughty and/or thoughtless as they ever were...

Re: Unruly Kiddies

Two weeks ago we had massive snow falls in Lausanne, and I was stuck in traffic in my car. There was this little kid who was excitedly throwing snow balls at cars, including mine.

At first I was a bit pi$$ed off as he was aiming for the windscreen and I almost shouted at him to stop.

Then I had a hard look at myself, realized I was turning into an angry bitter old bat, remembered the happiness of being a kid and being surrounded by snow, and smiled at the kid.

Re: Unruly Kiddies

Snowballs are excellent, so much fun.

At school, we'd been launching snowballs from the tennis courts into the staffroom - they wanted fresh air in there and elected to keep the window open.

And so they deployed Mr Uttley to the tennis courts to patrol.....

It worked for a while until I launched a snowball up in the air so high that I could turn side-on and casually observe it going close to Mr Uttley.

Except it landed smack on the top of his head.

I held it together as long as possible before I had to turn my back to him. It was so funny that I was crying like a baby.

He never did find out who lobbed that or where from but snowballs were banned after that.

No, there are plenty of oceans in Switzerland too. And herds of wilderbeest.

What were you thinking when you wrote that?
