Re: Tomorrow is Switzerland's Siren test day - do not get scared ;-)

So, if anyone launches a nuclear attack at about 13.30 on the first Wednesday in February, we're all going to die.

When the real alarm sounds () I won't be going to any bunker in any case.

Hmh didn't hear a thing over here. If this is how it's supposed to be, we're all going to die here when the real alarm sounds. Great.

Of course. The instructions were: wrap yourself in a bodybag or in absence of this, a white sheet and crawl slowly towards the cemetery.

Why slowly, you ask? Well, not to cause panic, of course.

In a similar vein, I have always worried that the rest of the world knows if it wants to attack Switzerland it should invade just after 8am on a Saturday morning when the weekday-warriors are on their way home for some R & R at mummy's for the weekend.

Or if the invaders fancy a quickie fight, come on a Wednesday evening when they have their night off to go to the cinema.

Say n'more...

I didn't think the Soviets were the problem, rather the German tax authorities.

Isn't there one in your basement?! I was amazed when I found mine, looks like something out of the Blair Witch Project

Does anyone know what the siren is officially for by the way...apart from the end of the world or that someone found the gold??

Your bunker is easily identifiable as being the dark place
where you chuck all your household junk "temporarily"
whilst repeating the ages-old mantra "I'll sort it all out soon."

May also contain a wine collection.

Two tests take place in every canton between 1.30pm and 3pm, according to the federal department of defense, civil protection and sports.
The Swiss have one department for all of those things? Glad they're taking everything seriously.

Leave a slightly acidic Post-it note on neighbour's front door with a PS to turn their music down.

Can't be as bad as the speakers at Kreuzplatz that announce transit issues. Completely sound like Nazi prison camp announcements. Muffled and staticy just like in the movies.
