I got the day right this time and opened the windows specially.

Down here in Geneva the sirens went off five minutes late and the all-clear has just this minute gone off.
Maybe LiB is right, Geneva is behind the rest of Switzerland in everything. Including early warnings!

No, no, it was all agreed: they were giving me a 5 minute-leeway to wheel my stock of Scottish beer down to the communal nuclear shelter! If I had to spend a few months locked up with some of my neighbours, I'd need a lot more than 5 minutes, though!

There's an "all clear" sound too? Never heard that one?

After 10 years of living here I asked my landlord where our bomb-proof refuge actually would be - after 13 minutes I got the email reply and it's in the other house, layed out for 50 people. I wouldn't last 30 minutes with all those neighbours in one room though .... so stocking up on the alcohol might be a good idea once we figure out Trumps plans. Although if he triggers the big one, I'll drink it all in the comfort of my living room .....

It'll take me more than five minutes to get to your place, could you ask them for longer if the balloon does go up for real?

If you're having problems with neighbours you're posting in the wrong thread. Try here;

There's not only an all-clear, there are different siren noises for different types of alert!

My evil plan:

It's Wednesday 13:29:50 and I will shout at my team collegue who pranked me once before: "Dam... The reactor at Gösgen just melted!!" then I slowly look to him while he doubts the truth and if the timming is correct the siren will just start

You so missed an opportunity to come back from the bog as the sirens are wailing, saying "YES! It was THAT bad! I'd give it 15 minutes for the all clear..."

What should one do when the siren is blaring for real and it’s not a drill?

Turn on the radio (don't know if it will still inform you if there is no Billag anymore, ROFL) and listen to what they tell you to do.
Go to the "Luftschutzkeller", the shelter you are assigned to.
If it's the water-warning I guess you better go up a hill

Just about heard ours here. Must be something to do with the positioning of the siren because we're only a few hundred metres away, but I often don't hear it at all when they test.
