Zürich is not boring!
There is just so much history here! You can spend hours getting lost in all the history and beauty of this wonderful city.
just my 2 cents worth...

Personally, I don't think Zurich is boring. But if you do get bored, all you have to do is hop on a train and you can get just about anywhere in Switzerland in under 3 hours. So much to explore - so many customs and traditions to take-in. I love when they bring the cows down from the mountains in the fall. The festival in Appenzell is fun. The men and women that lead the cows down dress in traditional costumes. There's music, food, dancing.

| | Re: Tell me the truth - is Zurich boring? | Quote: | | | | | NO.
Yes, drinking in bars can be expensive, so I drink less. But in the summer there are so many open places by the lake and river, grab some wine and bread and cheese and have a party with friends until late.
One other thing to bear in mind, when you move abroad, away from family, close friends and compatriots, you move away from your "safety zone" and work on nurturing friendships more. I have to say I have never had so many good, close friends in my life.... I'm guessing half of my 300 odd FB friends are in the Zurich area and I could go out every night with different (and different types of) people to different areas of the city..... there's not a day goes by where something isn't happening in town either within my group of friends, or with complete strangers. Don't believe the folk here who tell you the Swiss are cold and reserved. If you're open and friendly, you'll get the same back from most of them, certainly the Zurich ones anyway. | | | | | I fully agree with Grumpy. It takes some energy to get out and make new friends, but the Zürcher are a great group once you get to know them and build a circle of friends. I love that the city has everything but is still so small. I can wake up late on a Saturday and spend the day by the lake, or hop a train and be in the mountains in under 2 hours. I can stay in town and go to worldclass museums or head an hour out of the city and be in rolling hills, taking part in fun Swiss traditions like Säulirennen (pig races) or folklore parades etc.
Zürich is often ranked in the top 3 best places to live in the world for good reason. I hope your move here helps you see it too. Let us know when you get settled in and maybe join us for monthly Sunday Brunch.

ok, hop on the train...and then? you see will see villages, lakes, mountains, a bit of woods. fin. if you did it, you have seen it. from my perspective you need to get into some sports that involve the lakes and/ore mountains. looking at it gets me bored after 7 years. as much as i like museums, shows that i want to see are limited as the stuff that gets shown i have seen so many times.

Zurich is boring and sometimes very boring. People are arrogant and reservef.
If you are in a relationship or marriied your social life wont suck as much.
If your single you will feel
Lonely unless your super hot tall blonde guy. Woman are extra superficial and high expectations. Don’t expect many matches on Tinder and dating overall sucks a billion times worse than dating in New York. Food options are ok. Weather is very good and nature is beautiful. Decide what you want and if your the introverted nature guy you will
Love it here otheruyou wont

And the guy boasting about taking home 27.5 women last year in the table behind in the bar, well.....that 0.5 makes the thing a bit suspicious. So, stop the stupid comparisons with imaginary super hot tall blonde guys. One sales technique to improve success is to boast sales success. If possible, lie a bit to make numbers look nicer. If it works for cars, self-help books and other stuff, why not dating?
On the Tinder thing, there are low self-esteem guys around the world. Not only a ZH issue. Please stay away from Reddit, PUA groups and sappy guys crying in each other shoulders. Go out, have some fun, beer or two, and the dry spell will end.

New York is quite famous for being a city with more women than men. I know females who complain about how terrible the dating scene in NYC is for them...
And again: comparing Zurich to New York is so far off its outright stupid. Yes, a city with a population 8.5 Million will have more active tinder profiles than one with 0.4 Million... go figure...

NY is a magnet for immigrants, and majority of them are men. Plus the raito is 0.94 which is nearly 1 comparing to say Moscow where it is 0.81

If you are single and not from here and don't speak Swiss-German, it is challenging to find a decent social life (without feeling pathetic about hanging out with others in your predicament).
If you are married with kids, it is not boring. The kids integrate for you. Only problem is, once you start a family, you are no longer able to afford living in Zurich.
