Urgh! I hate spiders, and yes those are the types of spiders I have hanging around outside my window too....I have 2 right now. Had never seen such big spiders until I came here...I know, I know, nothing like Australia or anything, but they are big for me!
A few times I find them inside the house, and I am super brave and put them outside with a glass and cardboard......I couldn't bare to squish them, it would go all over me. The tiny ones I leave, they can stay, but the medium sized ones I have to squish..... I also have a "stay in your web and live" agreement with the spiders too! hee hee.
As for those videos....I have seen them both before, and haha, they make me laugh, and disgust me so badly at the same time! I can barely bare to watch them....normally have a hand up to my eyes to cover it just in case I can't bear it any more lol.

I also have some sort of agreement with my live-in spiders. As long as they nicely stay in their ceiling corner and don't move from there and are reasonable sized, they're allowed to stay.
Anyway, I'm way to scared of them to go close enough to squish them
I was just about to turn out the lights for bed when I saw a spider AT LEAST 7 inches wide on my wall. I'm arachnophobic and ran to get some spray to get rid of it but when I got back, it was gone...
There's no one around to kill it for me and the prospect of entering the room again is irrationally terrifying. A quick google search says that Switzerland has no poisonous spiders but still, is this normal for the spiders to be this gigantic? Getting some spider spray or what have you ASA-freaking-P tomorrow morning...
I've lived in Australia and seen many spiders. But 7 INCHES ... How many drinks did you have ??
that's exactly how it feels.... and until I manage to grab a swatter or the spray-that-promises-to-kill-spider-on-the-spot the spider has disappeared...

The funniest thing for me is when people shout out "LOOK AT THAT HUGE SPIDER !!!"
I'll look around in panic and see nothing......... then some pathetic, non-toxic piece of eight-legged piece of rubbish appears up on a wall somewhere.
The Hunstman spider in Australia easily gets bigger than 7inches...... but as it's basically the "puppy dog" of spiders. It's the best example that you should be afraid of the small ones.
I don't think I've seen a spider bigger than 3 inches here (or 7.4cm for my metric brethren), but this doesn't mean that I like spiders at all.
Scary little buggers, but we need them, so I don't hurt them.
Moreover big spiders don't die when they get sucked in the vacuum cleaner. They simply get cushioned in the bag among the dust and get out through the pipe later on...

A) they don't
B) the picture shows a bagless model, and IME they don't survive the constant movement inside the canister.
C) if they do survive you'll be able to see them. And if you're feeling humane, simply go outside, unclip the lid (the bottom, actually) and empty into a safe place. Out of a window would do, unless there's a lot of crap in it of course. If you're not feeling humane, simply hold the trigger to whirl them round and round until they die.

The OP hasn't been seen or heard of since last night. Has the enormous spider anything to do with this?
We must be alert for any new members who may take over her identity: give aways will be asking about where to get eight legged trousers in Zurich and wether or not 200 mosquitos a year is enough to live on
