If I hadn't of already bought the HP Spectre x360 14 I would have bought one of those Lenovos!

Shouldn't you now return the HP and get the Lenovo - until you see the next offer?

Re: The "I found a deal/bargain" thread...

One to file under 'Every little helps':

The Coop Bau & Hobby in Pfäffikon has sewing thread for CHF 3.50/200m, so cheaper than the usual CHF 5.95/200m at sewing stores. They have a display of about 100 colors, so not a huge range, but enough to cover much of what I have needed. It's tucked away in the Bastell aisle, easily missed. I assume most larger B&H might carry the same stock.

Yes, I'm all excited about a CHF 2 savings... 'cuz given how much thread one can go through, it adds up.

Sounds more like Fr. 200.00 savings.

i have a HP machine for work. the spectre specs are good, but i hate the keyboard layout with the home/end/etc. keys on the right side.

now i only buy certain lenovo or acer laptops due to keyboard layout issues.

I cannot stand the Fn button being in the place of the Ctrl button on Lenovo keyboards... it does my head in. I also had one Acer laptop and never again, ugh.

The spectre keyboard is also the nicest travel keyboard I have used on a laptop, it just feels lush. Plus I cannot wait to have an OLED 3200x200 screen... mmm... OLED goodness.

yeah. i hate the fn/ctrl thing on the lenovos. it's the one bad thing - HOWEVER, you can swap this in the bios.

acer make a lot of bad laptops, so you have to be careful which one you buy. there are also some duds in the lenovo line-up too.

it was at the time of my post #928. i put the exact URL that works for me.

lenovo codes are time specific. presumably 'nightdeal' code is only available at night! but it was available the last 2 nights. you can try looking again tonight. it worked for me between 10pm-midnight but the range is probably wider than that.

Ahh maybe so, but it's a corporate laptop so I can't access the BIOS. Anyway, the Spectre design and spec for the money I paid is just overall way better than the equivalent Lenovo. I am genuinely excited about the 3:2 screen as I just love looking at OLED's as they give me very little eye strain vs LED.

Very thorough video comparison here:

ah. my last work laptop was lenovo, but they hadn't locked down the bios so i changed it. for a while i only used lenovo because of the superior keyboard and of course: the trackpoint!

3:2 oled would be nice. i wish the 4:3 screen would return! i'd be happy if someone would make a portrait laptop with a 2:3 ratio.

I wouldn't bother with a lenovo outside their thinkpad line-up.

I am a ThinkPad and IBM keyboard fanatic so I can't shut up about this subject.

A client forces me to use his HP notebook. I don't know how HP did it, but I throw a quasi autistic fit every time I open it. The layout and the depth of the keyboard are tragically miscalculated. And the page block aligned vertically on the right side merits the firing squad. I have a label printer where the keyboard is nearly more fun to use.

While annoying, two possible solutions. The control-function swap in the BIOS as suggested by another poster. Also, the old school Unix approach: swap control and caps lock. (Great for emacs or anyone who uses the control key a lot but problematic when you use other computers.)

Tangential to my point, but more in line with the thread: if you're unaware of the latest notebook models but are looking for a deal and are tempted by Lenovo, the ThinkPad line is more robust and comfortable than the IdeaPad line.

i'm glad i'm not the only one. agree with firing squad for those who make terrible (and often pointless) keyboard layout changes.

WTFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF a 65" LG CX for 1299chf.

That is 200 cheaper than I paid and at 1500 it was already a bargain. Now it's just ridiculous. Serious guys, if you care about TV, movie and gaming quality then just go and buy it. Now.

Honestly, that's such an amazing price for a HDMI 2.1 TV of this mind-blowing level of image quality. It's about as future proof as a TV can currently get.
