| | 50 off 200 CHF Coop at home.
Got this in my email today, seemed like a good way to save some money on next week's groceries. "Forget about cash and using a bulky, unpractical purse. TWINT is Switzerland's digital wallet. Use the payment and shopping app to pay for your purchases easily, quickly and securely with your smartphone. One of the numerous advantages of TWINT is that it works without a credit card in the background and does not incur an annual fee.
Use this innovative service for shopping at coop@home too. If you pay for your order of CHF 200 or more before 13 March with TWINT, we'll give you CHF 50 (code TWINT3-J).t | This user would like to thank expatinch for this useful post: | |

| | Swiss Bargains
Since there is no complimentary category, I have settled on this one here. After seeing the Swiss Rip Offs thread with its 826 replies (no I haven't read em all), I am just wondering if any of us know of any Swiss bargains (Yes! I strongly believe there is such a thing)?
So aside from complaining about license plate fees and other overpriced no brainers, can any one think of any bargains (discounts) here in Switzerland that we EFers might be interested in knowing about.
To kick it off, I for one am impressed by the public educational system here. I can't think of another place (go ahead and criticize me for saying this) where one can graduate from the University without having over $200K in student loans.

I left the US while I was in high school and got a public secondary and Uni education here in Switzerland. When I see what my friends in the US ended up paying, I feel like I dodged a bullet.

(PS: have you ever been outside of America before?) | Quote: | | | | | True but an Ivy League diploma in the USA will get you a salary out of graduation that even a Swiss ETH graduate cannot dream with. | | | | | A salary that a Swiss graduate can only dream of... really? I suspect some mild delusion here. | Quote: | | | | Depending on a graduate's degree, the lowest median starting salary for an elite eight ranges from $49,400 for Brown to $59,600 for the University of Pennsylvania. According to one study, that's about 32% higher than a graduate at a non-Ivy League, liberal-arts school. | | | | | Payscale link http://www.payscale.com/college-sala...league-schools
Harvard:
Starting salary 61'400.
Mid-career salary: 126'000.
So, taking taxes and living costs into account, how many years do you think you will spend paying back that $200k degree? It will probably take an ETH graduate a few months of a full salary (82'000CHF at one of the Big 4) to pay off theirs.

An MSc can get you an engineering job in CH starting at min 85k and for ETH/HSG I've seen offers for grad salaries in banking/consulting/insurance for 110k (classmate of mine)
No matter how expensive CH is, 6 figures for a graduate is an insane amount of money, and besides getting a Wall Street job with bonuses, I can't see someone topping that in the US easily, no matter their school.
