The "I found a deal/bargain" thread...

Well, this was discussed a while back and the general concensus was just to make one single thread that people can post in when they physically find a good deal or a bargain in a shop (NOT VOUCHERS). So here it is, and if you find something decent then please post it along with the location and a pic if possible and maybe someone else can grab a bargain.

--------------------------------------

I was in Top Market half an hour ago and saw that they had a couple of sets of Schafer knives for sales, for the paltry price of 19.99chf.

Top Market is a discount shop next to Zurich Binz and is located here https://maps.google.ch/maps?ie=UTF-8...d=0CKUBEPwSMAo

Binzstrasse 12
8045 Zurich

See below for pics of the knife set, it's a good one (coloured and with ceramic-coated blades) and ridiculously cheap!

There should be one or two sets left if anyone lives locally and wants to grab one. They generally have very cheap branded sports goods and shoes too, so it's worth having a look around either way.

Re: The "I found a deal/bargain" thread...

I tried to get a similar thread started, without great success. Still think it is a good idea.

Sharing Treasures from Fündgrube/ Brockihaus

BTW, can someone explain how to link one thread to another? Help!

Has anyone mentioned Edi's Weinstube yet? I think that's a deal for drinking wine while out and about...

Re: The "I found a deal/bargain" thread...

There is a UK-based online store called Mymemory.co.uk that always has some great deals, and this week they have the Philips LivingColors Gen 3 Living Colours Micro Colour Changing Mood Lamp for a ridiculously low £17.99 (25.91chf). Shipping is also a ridiculously low £1.99 to Switzerland (I ordered two and that's still all it cost me).

In Switzerland the price is still around 80chf (£55.57)in Media Markt for one of these.

It comes with a UK plug so you will need a Uk to CH adapter.

Get it here http://www.mymemory.co.uk/Lights/Phi...Lamp---Black?=

Re: The "I found a deal/bargain" thread...

i've just bought that lamp! if only to see how they fit the name on the box!

in the charity shop on birmensdorfstrasse, zurich, there's a 50% sale, which means the men's white-beige burberry mackintosh-style coats (trench coats?) they have are something like 70 francs. they're not my style but maybe someone wants them. come in, michael caine.

That is not a standard Swiss adapter, so I don't recommend purchasing it. Better to buy one like this:

Please put a link to google maps of the name and address or something if possible when posting a deal so as to make it as clear (and idiot-proof) as possible.

EDIT - I just got a dispatch confirmation and it seems they included two adapters for free!

Tip for those who hate paying over the odds for umbrellas that they inevitably lose...

...Dosenbach have umbrellas from United Colours of Bennetton that are good quality and also, dare I say it, almost fashionable... for 12.95CHF.

I genuinely wouldn't have been surprised if I'd seen them at 2-3x the price. Bought three to get me through Winter.

Co-OpCity at Sihl CIty Nord in Zurich are doing a big sale on silk ties... all 10 or 15chf. Just bought a few myself, and there were still some decent ones left when I'd finished with them.

Would it not be easier & cheaper to just change the plug?

Re: The "I found a deal/bargain" thread...

Went to Salt&Pepper restaurant in Fleurier yesterday, excellent Indian food and really enjoyed it (30 CHF for chicken jalfreizi, so not cheap, but it did include veg, rice and half a naan)

But the bargain was advertised for breakfast : coffee, croissant, toast, jam and butter + a glass of orange juice for ... 4CHF

(it is a ttraditional Swiss Café which used to be Café de la Patinoire- and although the new owner is Pakistani- they also serve Swiss food and Spanish tapas.. )

That doesn't sound very Indian.

Why? ...... has much changed in the last 5 months?

Maybe you've attended a 'How to fit a plug' course for beginners, in the interim?
